Both the New York Times and Washington Post obituaries for Jimmy Carter have joint bylines including writers who have been dead for years. The Guardian ran an obit with a single byline—and yes, the writer has been dead since 2021.
We’re unionizing to make our workplace better. Lately, management seems intent on making our workplace worse.
Here are a few examples of recent changes that underscore why we need a union:
Hot take but I think it’s weird how quiet newsrooms are nowadays and the fact that reporters can’t yell over the phone anymore is an affront to journalism and maybe also anti-Italian
