@rebecca09478433@DrShayPhD If they were trying to get on the king's good side, they wouldn't have listed all of his faults and failing. Consistently through the Bible, people's faults are highlighted only God remains faithful and true. Not so in other cultures at the time.
@DrShayPhD You are ignoring that the Jews were used to having their children dedicated at the temple and entered into the covenant when they were 8 days old. Having them enter the Christian faith at infancy would have seemed normal to them. Heck they were even baptizing the dead.
@vanguard_truth Catholic priests are single because Christ was single and the Church was His bride. St. Paul recommended the single state for serving the Lord. So,they weren't All married. It also anticipates the heavenly state were there is no marriage.
@vanguard_truth But that is not the way it operated in the first century or later. You see the hierarchy forming right in the New Testament with bishops, deacons, and presbyters. It's not until later Protestants you see it rejected. Num. 16, Korah claimed a priesthood for all believers. Read it
@hookskat DNA code is universally understood by all living beings including viruses. Nothing created by DNA could have written the code. There are no alternative codes, This code must have been created by a single non-created writer, which we call God.
@Soteriology101 Think of it this way. All the Hebrews were called out of Egypt but after testing and trials in the desert, only Joshua and Caleb were found worthy to enter the Promised Land. God will was that all would enter, but people chose to not obey, or have faith in God's promises.
@rebecca09478433@DrShayPhD God is the one who called David a man after his own heart. He confessed his sins and sought forgiveness. God doesn't seek the perfect or the proud, he seeks those who are contrite of heart and humble before him.
@DrShayPhD@OGoethals57132 Hebrews 11:32 specifically mentions David. Hebrew 11:39 speaks of how they did not receive since God had foreseen something better of us, that together with us they should be made perfect. Hebrews 12:1 "mighty cloud of witnesses" verse.
@DrShayPhD@cody_kutac@swamthetiber25 In Revelations the holy martyrs under the altar are calling out to God. Every martyr has died and left their bodies here yet spiritually in heaven. Our bodies will be resurrected for the new heaven and the new earth. Hebrews 21:1 "surrounded by a mighty cloud of witnesses."
@DrShayPhD@cody_kutac@swamthetiber25 You are totally missing Peter's point, He is saying the verse said to David about letting your Holy One not see corruption, did not apply to Him but to Jesus. Ascend also implies under your own power. Jesus is the only one to ascend into heaven. We are taken to heaven by God.
@Lag_Incarnate@farmingandJesus Then why were all the Masses from all the Apostles almost identical using the same words of consecration. It replaced the Jewish temple sacrifices. Jesus said, This... is the new covenant in my blood. Luke 22:20 is the fulfillment of Jer. 31:31
@Lag_Incarnate@farmingandJesus Part 2. You can see this most clearly in Deu. 29:2. He's speaking to those born after Egypt yet he says. "You have seen all that the Lord did before you eyes in the land of Egypt.: Their remembrance was a participation in the event even years later.
@DrShayPhD You are Peter and upon this Rock, I will build my CHURCH. In the epistles, if they are talking about the universal church it is always katholica ecclesia. In Daniel 2:45 you see the rock land at the feet of Rome and grow from there to cover the earth.
