There’s EU national interest exemptions (article 346 of treaty on functioning of the EU) that cover procurement in defence.

Being outside of single market meant SAFE negotiations on EU wide defence fund also collapsed last year as UK unable to agree rules and costs of participation.

In a world this uncertain our security interests undoubtedly lie in resetting our relationships with our closest neighbours. Not trying to claim Brexit helping keep us safe or saving us money.
