Great to be in Leicester today for @LabourCycles Conference. In Sheffield, we’re committed to making our streets safer, more accessible, and people-friendly. Fantastic to learn from colleagues like @anna4labour and @GeoffWhittle3 who share our ambition
@RideLeicester Really thrilled to be back. Loved my visit with @NikJohnsonCA last year to learn about the great work Leicester is doing (and riding those fantastic e-bikes).

People-friendly streets boost business! Great to see @activetraveleng celebrating Sheffield’s transformation with the award-winning Grey to Green scheme in Castlegate—new walking/cycling routes and vibrant public spaces. 🌿🚶♀️🚴♂️👩🦽🛍️
Last year London's Boroughs delivered 162 new school streets - bringing the total to over 650 across the capital 🚸
London's Schools Streets are helping increase active travel and cutting air pollution in the local area throughout the school day 💚🚲🚶♀️🛴♿️🤸♂️

Tackling speeding and dangerous driving is a top priority for my constituents. It’s why I have campaigned relentlessly on this issue.
I have again written to the council calling for average speed cameras to be installed on dangerous roads in my constituency.

Thank you @JennyRathbone, Welsh Labour MS, for taking the time to pay us a visit last week. Jenny took to one of our ICE Trike recumbents like a duck to water (pssst, they are VERY easy and comfortable to ride for all ages and abilities)👍

Fringes this year about policing and transport seemed more focused on road safety and road harm reduction that previously. I can only hope this culture shift signals something greater.
(@LilianGreenwood was fantastic on this)
As a motorist & as a dad I make no apology for enforcing rules which keep children safer going to and from school. Those with good reason to drive in & out of School Streets in restricted hours are eligible for exemptions. Everyone else can park elsewhere and walk. #RoadSafety
📻Excellent coverage of the latest School Streets proposals this morning on @BBCRadioKent including chunky vox pops from parents at Miers Court, Rainham extolling the benefits. With some fine-tuning, safer journeys for more Medway children are coming soon. #ChildFriendlyMedway
This was a great panel discussion yesterday on all things walking, wheeling & cycling.
And please remember, when we talk about safety and the need to shift the dial from fear to freedom, this has to include actions to address fear of male violence as well as road danger.
The good news is that increasing the number & diversity of people walking, wheeling & cycling, contributes to safer streets & stronger communities.
More eyes on the street increases safety & feelings of safety as well as making our places and spaces more social and joyful. #RightToTheStreets
Yet another example of why a joined up, mission-based approach is critical.
