Oh yes, we're back!
We're currently focused on campaigning for two things:
🌹 Humanist values in the Labour Party

Brilliant news. Labour's @HarrietHarman has put forward an amendment to the Hereditary Peers Bill on bishops in the Lords.
If passed, the amendment would mandate that the Government to develop proposals to remove the Lords Spiritual within two years.

Wonderful news! New MP @LizziCollinge - whose maiden speech in Parliament emphasised the how a humanist approach to life had shaped her political convictions - has been elected as the new chair of the @APPGhumanists.
Congratulations Lizzi! 👏
Really wonderful speech from Keir Starmer today.
He is absolutely right that the Government cannot be swayed by populist rhetoric - it has to make its focus on delivering results in the form of security, money in their pockets and working public services. https://t.co/d7eh2DGanS
"Populism isn't the answer to Britain's challenges, easy answers won't make our country strong," Keir Starmer says
"Nobody can deny that this kind of politics feeds off real concerns," the PM adds

Very sorry to learn of the death of a humanist trailblazer, Anna Lo from Alliance, who was the first Chinese parliamentarian in UK history
Though we had different politics, Anna shared our values of compassion, reason and kindness in politics. A huge loss https://t.co/n22K0eSV04
Feet are still sore from a brilliant #LabConf24, but delighted to have met and spoken to so many members old and new.
To everyone who signed up at conference, look out for a post-conference update next week setting out steps for getting more involved in our work 💪🌹
Delighted by the speeches at our annual drinks reception with @Humanists_UK. Such wonderful allies to have. As well as openings on marriage and assisted dying, King’s Speech offers a lot of hope for humanist campaigns on the curriculum, Commons modernisation, Lords reform. #LPC24
Our asks are this:
Join Humanists UK to support their national campaigning work on schools, marriage, assisted dying & a secular state
And join us (for free!) to help us promote humanism in the Labour movement, across local as national governments https://t.co/INWbyijHLd
One of the big takeaway messages of the fringe from our speakers was just how many humanist campaigns were teed up nicely for success in the recent King’s Speech. But there’s lots of work to get them over the line!
Growing membership = more campaigning = positive social change!
Lovely to chat to so many Labour MPs already at #LPC24 in Liverpool about our campaign priorities in the new Parliament, including a compassionate assisted dying law, legal recognition of humanist marriage, & inclusive curriculum reform. So much optimism among MPs for our agenda!
We're gearing up excitedly for Labour Party conference 🌹🌹 where we'll be volunteering at the @Humanists_UK stall at Stand D6 in Liverpool
Come along and speak to us about our priority campaigns, how to get involved, or how to get one of our nifty Labour Humanists T-shirts 👀

No woman should ever face harassment or intimidation for going to a healthcare appointment.
Nearly ten years ago in Opposition, I called on the Government to introduce buffer zones round abortion clinics.
Now in Government we are acting. On 31 October, it will become the law.
Super impressed with @jessphillips and @YvetteCooperMP on this! It shows the difference when you have a compassionate Labour government.
The arguments put forward to justify Conservative dither and delay on this issue were all made in bad faith. Glad to see the cobwebs cleared.
