Outstanding letter in the Sunday Times newspaper today "Your Say WA" from Lindsay Baxter, Midland.
It's an outsized absurdity alright and one that continues to sail right under the noses of our Premier Roger Cook, his deputy and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti and all senior Labor Ministers who have dodged and deflected the questions around train lighting (or lack thereof) improvements asked of them recently.
Our families have been highlighting this safety hazard for literally years in a tireless bid to prevent further senseless tragedy on the WA and Australian rail network and what do we get....nothing but radio silence from our own government supposedly charged with the responsibility of keeping us all safe.
Go figure alright!

STATEMENT 👇🏻
Labor might try - but I’ll never be silenced on behalf of the people who sent me to Parliament.
I was elected to be a loud, strong voice for the Central Wheatbelt, and that’s exactly what I’ll keep being.
An independent report into the collaboration between Grower Group Alliance and the WA Government has outlined detrimental effects of a funding cut despite delivering nearly $70 million in project value.

Outstanding letter in today's Sunday Times newspaper (21.9.2025) by Lindsay Baxter from Midland.
The support from our metro friends writing in to highlight this decades old public safety anomaly has been strong and consistent.
Now time for our State and Federal Government to act before the next statistically imminent and completely preventable tragedy eventuates and it WILL eventuate 😔

It wasn't the outcome that we wanted last week, but we won't give up.
The Nationals WA will continue to fight for practical, evidence-based laws which will not punish those who are doing the right thing.
Fair question — and one I’ve already put directly to Dr Rodwell.
I met with him because someone needs to hold the government accountable for this botched transition. To date, there’s been no funding, no timeline, no clarity — and no visible support for the producers, truckies, shearers, exporters and regional communities left carrying the can.
What I can say is this: Dr Rodwell is now aware of just how frustrated and fed up growers are. I’ve told him plainly that words aren’t enough — people want to see action, dollars on the ground, and a plan that actually supports the future of regional WA.
The silence from WA Labor is deafening. I’ll keep pressing for answers — and more importantly, outcomes — for the people actually affected by this mess.
🐑🚢 MINISTER TOO BUSY FOR SHEEP FARMERS 🐑🚢
💬 148 days. That’s how long it’s been since the federal Labor Government appointed a Transition Advocate for the live sheep export ban — and WA’s own Agriculture Minister still hasn’t met with him.
It’s a disgrace. WA Labor has abandoned our sheep industry and is happy to watch it collapse without lifting a finger.
Meanwhile, I’ve had a full briefing with Transition Advocate Dr Chris Rodwell and will meet with him regularly. As Shadow Minister for Agriculture, I’m fighting to ensure our producers, truckies, shearers, and exporters aren’t left behind by this senseless ban.
No funding in the WA Budget. No plan. No care.
The Nationals WA and the Opposition will never stop backing the WA sheep industry.
Calling on the Labor Government to review the Universal Service Obligation immediately and extend it to physical phone infrastructure. The current phone outage in the Western Downs demonstrates the need for USO reform.
Metronet has blown out to $15.5 billion – a staggering 417% increase from Labor’s original $3 billion election promise in 2017.
While city train lines spiral out of control, regional WA is left waiting for basic services and long-overdue upgrades.
🏎️💨 Zoom Zoom… but at what cost?🏎️💨
While WA families freeze through winter and regional communities can’t afford a trip to the doctor, Labor’s off splashing cash on vanity projects.
This isn’t economic management — it’s a government drunk on power and out of touch with reality.
From @SpagnoloJoe this weekend; "sometimes it takes just one project, one example of wasteful spending, to smear an administration. And mud sticks."

It was a great pleasure to take The Nationals WA Parliamentary team on the road to Albany this week.
We're proud to represent the people of this region and grateful to the Member for Albany, Scott Leary, for hosting us.
