🇮🇶🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia decided not to retaliate for the attacks on its main pipeline.

After drone attacks, the East-West pipeline was shut down, closing the only substantial oil export route besides the Strait of Hormuz (blocked by Iran).

🗣️ The Saudi government clarified: “The Kingdom clarifies that, following a request from the prime minister of Iraq to give the brotherly Iraqi government the opportunity to take the necessary measures to prevent attacks launched from Iraqi territory against Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries, the Kingdom has opted not to respond at this stage and to support the efforts of the Iraqi government.”

The attacks were carried out not by the Houthis, as many expected, but by rebel groups from Iraq aligned with Iran.

Saudis are squeezed from all sides. Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz; Iran’s rebel groups in Iran shut down their East-West pipeline (temporarily at least). Meanwhile the Houthis are pushing out Saudi proxies in Yemen, seizing the Red Sea coast and taking control of a major global shipping route.

This is unsustainable for the Saudis, they are calling Trump now and ask for intervention. Donald will have to do something, he can’t just abandon the Saudis … but what?

Az Ali al-Taher-gerinc Dél-Libanonban, Nabatieh közelében, nagyjából 15 kilométerre az izraeli határtól fekszik. Körülbelül 600 méteres magasságával nagy területet lehet róla ellenőrizni, és stratégiai összeköttetést biztosít a dél-libanoni Hezbollah-állások és az Iqlim al-Tuffah térsége között.

Today Boris Johnson is in my native city of Lviv, presenting his memoir at the BookForum.

He is still hailed here as a “great friend of Ukraine.” Everyone wants a selfie with Boris. Local politicians scurry after him, desperate to catch a few reflected rays of his glory.

All this despite Johnson being a warmonger and neocon who helped derail the 2022 Istanbul peace process with Russia — and despite his later acknowledgment that NATO viewed Ukraine as the battlefield for a proxy war against Russia.

He is one of the Western politicians whose decisions bear responsibility for a war that has cost hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian lives. Yet Ukrainians still thank him, celebrate him, and even name streets after him. Perhaps one day we’ll complete the set with a Boris Johnson Memorial Cemetery.

As long as this mentality persists, Ukraine will remain stuck in the shit: less a sovereign country than a Western colony and proving ground, where a Ukrainian life acquires geopolitical value mainly when it can be spent helping to bleed the Russian bear.

And somehow we’re expected to call this friendship.
