After family challenges and time away from school, Ollie joined Ladder with some goals. He’s now completed a TAFE electrical course, secured a casual job and working towards an apprenticeship. Ollie’s story is proof that with the right support, determination can spark real change

Maya’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible with the right support. Through Ladder, Maya built confidence, found her voice, and discovered a pathway that led to a new school environment and a traineeship in early childhood education. We’re so proud of you, Maya!

As we head into the new year, it’s a good chance to reflect on the year that was and set ourselves up for success in 2026. One of the first things we do at the start of each Ladder program is set S.M.A.R.T. goals. These are both big and small and give us something to work towards

In celebration of their hard work, resilience and achievements throughout the year, we recently rewarded our alumni with a day out to Gumbuya World. The day was a meaningful opportunity for everyone to reconnect, reflect and enjoy time together.

Participants recently visited TAFE Gippsland’s Yallourn campus for a hands-on introduction to future training and career pathways. A bricklaying activity as part of their Construction Certificate sparked real interest, with one young person submitting an EOI to study in 2026.

Industry tours enable our participants to discover new employment and volunteer pathways while connecting with their community. Our visit to the Latrobe Valley Living facility offered a hands-on look at careers in the aged care sector and moments spent engaging with residents.

Cooking, connection, and confidence - all in one bowl of spaghetti bolognese! Participants worked together from purchasing ingredients to cooking a dish, learning how to make a healthy, low-cost meal while strengthening their teamwork, independence and social skills.
