No. Quite the opposite. That one went lobbying, wooing & begging the Governor’s various wives (literally on bent knees in one of my stepmother’s houses) to put in a good word of support into their husband’s ears, continued & lobbied the Governor’s older brother. Shared cash & gifts to those he calculated had influence on that said Governor. Eventually all the pressure got to the Governor & the Governor acceded to the pleas of various family members who felt Alhaji Towel has been loyal & should be considered top of the list. This is an incredible story but I must tell it, if only because the nation deserves to know.

I woke up this morning and my 1-year-old nephew was staring at me. Not blinking. Not babbling. Staring. The kind of stare that suggests a man who has read three policy documents before breakfast and found them wanting.

I asked him why he was looking at me like I owed his mother rent, and why, at this critical hour, he was not in school preparing to rescue the Republic.

“Let me cut to the chase,” he said, “because this isn’t a sparring session. If we miss Seyi in 2027, I will not forgive you. Nigeria needs a paradigm shift. We don’t just need a new Nigeria, we need a better country. And you’ve got to play your part. If you don’t do this, you are after my life.”
