Kenya’s Glory in London: Honouring Our Marathon Heroes and National Pride
Joined other Kenyans in the heart of London for the 2026 TCS Marathon, where the streets echoed with pride, unity, and the unmistakable spirit of our nation. This year’s event became more than a race, it transformed into a powerful showcase of Kenya’s excellence, resilience, and global influence.
Kenya lit up London with extraordinary performances from our athletes. Daniel Ebenyo Sawe’s record‑breaking victory and Hellen Obiri’s remarkable second‑place finish once again elevated our flag above the crowds, reminding the world why Kenya remains the undisputed home of marathon greatness. Their achievements reflect not only personal triumphs but the collective strength of a nation that continues to inspire through talent and determination.
These victories also highlight the growing role of sports diplomacy in strengthening Kenya’s global presence. Every stride our athletes take on international soil reinforces our identity as a nation of champions, disciplined, united, and forward looking.
We extend special appreciation to High Commissioner Maurice Makoloo, whose participation in the 2026 marathon demonstrated exemplary leadership. His involvement sends a powerful message: when leaders champion sports, they champion national unity, youth empowerment, and the nurturing of Kenya’s extraordinary talent.
Today, as Kenyans across London and around the world celebrate, we honour not only the medals and records but the spirit of a nation that continues to rise, inspire, and shine on the global stage. @MusaliaMudavadi@SingoeiAKorir@MMakoloo@WilliamsRuto@_KithureKindiki@Diaspora_KE@SDY_Ke@ForeignOfficeKE@KenyaMissionUK
"Sometimes you have to let people think you're the fool… because underestimation is the most powerful weapon you can wield."
This woman's viral clip lays out the ancient art of strategic silence:
- When they think you're clueless → they talk freely, reveal secrets, move sloppy.
- When they think you're naive → they drop their guard completely.
- You just sit there "confused"… while quietly collecting intel like a CIA operative.
Key truths she drops:
- A fool reacts. Wisdom observes.
- You don't argue every lie, correct every assumption, or defend yourself in rooms that weren't built to understand you.
- Nod. Smile. Let them believe they have you figured out.
- The person who constantly has to prove they're smart… usually isn't.
- Silence makes people uncomfortable. Stillness makes them nervous. Mystery makes them underestimate you.
She ties it to scripture:
- Esther didn't rush to the throne screaming — she waited for the perfect moment.
- David let Saul think he was "just a harp player" while already anointed king.
- Joseph had every reason to flex… instead he preserved his power through restraint.
Bottom line: Acting foolish isn't foolish.
It's control. Restraint. Timing.
Preserve your power.
Let them think you're harmless… until the moment is right.
Who's someone you've let underestimate you — and how did it pay off?
NEVER TOO LATE TO TAKE A TURN: Rehabilitation works.
At the age of 10, she took her first puff of cigar. It was from her dad. That became the genesis of a three-decade struggle with smoking and alcoholism, a near-fatal life journey that saw a once celebrated Miss Kenya runner-up rot in a jhuggi after "jumpstarting" her organs with sips of jet fuel and poisoning herself twice.
Her history is that of a multi-faceted damsel, an ambitious girl who got all her priorities wrong. It is the history of a lifeist, club-hopper, job-hopper, opportunist and one with a YOLO mentality...but not "forever and for always".
Recounting the dark past and the heartwarming message of hope that gave her another lease of life is Ms Ann Mathu, the current NACADA Vice Chairperson.
As the 5.8ft plus makes her way to the DCI reception, heads turn in admiration of the renowned voice that champions for the rehabilitation of willing alcoholics and drug addicts.
'The DCI' conducted an interview with Ann Mathu who recently celebrated 18 years of uninterrupted sobriety, and compiled her soul-stirring story of hope for addicts and victims of substance abuse disorder.
