Hoy quiero decirlo con mucha felicidad: me siento profundamente orgullosa de mi labor y de los resultados que hemos logrado en el caso de Greñas. ❤️🐾

Cuando lo recibí, su pequeño cuerpo y su carita llevaban las huellas de un acto terrible. Verlo sufrir me partía el alma, pero nunca pensé en rendirme. Desde el primer momento hice todo lo que estuvo en mis manos para darle atención médica, cuidados, amor y una oportunidad de salir adelante.

Hoy Greñas está dado de alta. 🥹❤️
Y aunque sabemos que todavía falta camino por recorrer, verlo avanzar, verlo feliz y saber que está recuperándose me confirma que cada esfuerzo, cada desvelo, cada preocupación y cada lágrima han valido la pena.

Este caso me recuerda por qué hago lo que hago.
Por ellos. Por los que nadie quiso ayudar. Por los que sufrieron en silencio. Por los que necesitan que alguien levante la voz y luche por ellos. 🐶❤️

Me siento orgullosa de Greñas, pero también de mí misma, de no haberme rendido y de haber hecho todo lo posible por cambiar su historia.

Greñas no es el mismo pequeño que llegó. Hoy tiene una nueva oportunidad de vivir. Y eso, para mí, lo significa todo. 🙏🏻❤️🐾

WOW: Dexter, Missouri. A police K9 did not die on a call. He died in a kennel behind his handler’s house.

Apollo was a Belgian Malinois. The city bought him in April 2023. In September a vet called him a perfectly healthy police dog. 67 pounds.
On February 18, 2024, he was found dead. 41.6 pounds. Almost 40 percent of his body gone. Ribs and spine through the skin. Eyes sunken.

Necropsy: terminal starvation and dehydration. Pneumonia common in dogs that have been starved.
The department provided the food. Free. It was there. Derrick Durall, Dexter PD’s K9 handler, did not feed him.

He told investigators he had not noticed.

Next kennel: retired K9 Knox. Severe heartworms. Worn teeth. Down 10 pounds. No vet in over a year. The smell did not come off after five baths.
Durall was fired. Prosecutors first charged two felonies — abuse they described as torture consciously inflicted. Then the felonies vanished. Last week he pleaded to two misdemeanors.

The judge imposed a year in jail and suspended it.

What he actually serves: 15 days. Two years probation. $8,900 back to the city for the dog he starved.

Missouri’s Max’s Law says a civilian who knowingly kills a police K9 can face a felony and years in prison.

Attack the dog on the street: years.
Starve the same dog to death while wearing the badge: 15 days.

Apollo could not open the bag. He could not turn on a faucet. He could not call a vet.

He depended on the one man sworn to keep him alive.
That man walked.

Eleven months. That’s how long Pima County has kept Sergeant Snuggles caged at Pima Animal Care Center over a single incident from last October, on his own property, no prior history of aggression.

Tucson City Court ordered him forfeited for euthanasia Nov 24. Superior Court denied the appeal Mar 26.

The family, military veteran outside Tucson, paid an $11K bond just to keep fighting for him, and he is still sitting in that kennel right now while the county drags this out.

Almost a year of a young dog’s life spent waiting on a system that can’t seem to finish what it started. Sign it. Fund it.

A mom fighting CANCER about to start chemo, is now also fighting to get her son's dog back...

...because the "temporary" dog sitter she trusted, is allegedly REFUSING to return her dog to her.

A family handed their puppy to a sitter for a little while during the hardest season of their lives... and says they haven't gotten her back since.

Her name is Hanna Bustos, she's a Miami mother of five and she is preparing to undergo chemotherapy.

During all of that, she needed help caring for the family's 1-year-old poodle, Lucy.

She hired a boarder, even one who came "highly recommended."

Lucy was a gift for Hanna's 14-year-old son.

Now, this mom says, the sitter simply won't give her back.

Her reason, according to Hanna?

That she "was not willing to remove Lucy from her pack."

Her exact words were:

"I am not giving you your dog back, I am not giving her up and she's staying with her pack."

He kicked his own dog in the face. Then he strangled it by the collar. Then he swung it over his head and slammed it into the ground.

St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Michael Sikorski, 29, did all three of those things to his dog, Steel, according to Macomb County prosecutors. Steel survived without permanent injuries, which says more about the dog than it does about the man.

Sikorski pleaded no contest to third-degree animal torture. A judge sentenced him this week: 30 days in county jail, 18 months of probation, 90 days on an alcohol tether, and a ban on owning or being near animals.

Thirty days. For beating, strangling, and slamming a living creature into the ground. The probation department wanted him to get probation only. The judge gave him a month behind bars instead, which in this system counts as pushing back.

Thirty days for what Steel went through is still a joke. It's just a slightly less insulting joke than probation.
