Imran Khan's family, political party and fellow cricket players are sounding the alarm over his deteriorating health in prison. I spoke to his close aide Zulfi Bukhari about his latest condition and the court case his party's filing against the Pakistani government over Khan's hospital visit last week:
The sons of Pakistan's ex-PM Imran Khan, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, tell Al Jazeera that they are increasingly worried after hearing that their 73-year-old father is ‘agitated’ and suffering from ‘severe anxiety.’

Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains. I hope the court ordered medical assessment be allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves
“My father is the toughest person I know. But he is 73 years old, and his body is paying the price for how he is being treated.” - @Kasim_Khan_1999#FreeImranKhan
Imran Khan, the former Pakistan prime minister and legendary cricket captain, will be moved from his “death cell” in prison to hospital amid concerns about his health.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered on Tuesday that Khan, 73, should be moved to hospital, having been in jail for the last three years for a string of cases following his ousting as prime minister in 2022⤵️

Today I, being the Chief Executive of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, along with my cabinet and parliamentarians, going to Adiala Jail situated in the province of Punjab to show solidarity with former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan.
The federal government has stopped us in Islamabad 26 number chowk. It’s not only an insult of the chief executive but of the 46 Million people of KP.
The federal government has also stopped the Gas of KP. Punjab government has stopped the wheat movement towards KP. All of these acts are against the spirit of federation and the constitution of Pakistan.
Mr. Imran Khan has lost 85% of his eyesight due to the negligence of Adiala Jail’s administration and their handlers. He is not being allowed to meet his legal counsel, family and even personal physician. The federal government is not obeying the court orders and Punjab government is violating the fundamental rights of a political prisoner. Mr. Imran Khan is being treated inhumanely and has been placed in complete solitary confinement since November 2025.
We strongly demand the immediate access of Imran Khan sahb’s family and personal physician to him without any further delay. The state of his health is a matter of serious national concern and any harm caused to him due to negligence or deliberate denial of medical care is the direct responsibility of the federal government, the Punjab police, the administration of Adiala Jail and their handlers. We warn that the nation is watching and history will not forgive those who remain silent or complicit. Justice must prevail and it will prevail!
What is truly disgraceful is that a certain segment in this country especially media appears more disturbed by the question of who leaked the cipher than by what the cipher exposed. Interference in Pakistan’s political process, sovereignty and national dignity does not outrage them nearly as much as the fact that the public came to know about it. Their silence on the substance and obsession with the leak itself is not patriotism it is moral cowardice wrapped in political convenience. A nation cannot preserve its sovereignty when so many of its self proclaimed pundits are willing to overlook humiliation, so long as it serves their preferred narrative.
I think if the no confidence vote against the Prime Minister succeeds, all will be forgiven in Washington - Donald Lu
IMRAN KHAN WAS RIGHT
Word by word, line by line
⚡️ Drop Site News has published for the first time the full Cable I-0678 — the classified Pakistani diplomatic telegram dated March 7, 2022, that Imran Khan has cited as evidence of a U.S.-backed conspiracy to remove him from power.
The cable, sent from Pakistan’s ambassador in Washington to the Foreign Secretary in Islamabad, documents a luncheon meeting between Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu.
According to the cable, Lu told the ambassador that Washington’s grievances with Khan’s government could be set aside if Khan were removed through a no-confidence vote. “I think if the no confidence vote against the Prime Minister succeeds, all will be forgiven in Washington because the Russia visit is being looked at as a decision by the Prime Minister,” Lu said, per the cable.
“Otherwise, I think it will be tough going ahead.”
In his own assessment, the ambassador wrote that Lu “could not have conveyed such a strong demarche without the express approval of the White House” and had “spoken out of turn on Pakistan’s internal political process.”
The cable was marked Secret, No Circulation, and distributed to Pakistan’s Secretary to the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, Director General of the ISI, and the Director of the SSP Section.
Khan was removed via no-confidence vote on April 9, 2022, six weeks after the meeting. He has been imprisoned since 2023, and has been held in solitary confinement since last year.
