Each year group created beautiful decorations for the Sandiacre tree. Yesterday we went to hang them up ready for the carols round the tree later today at 4:30pm. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

We at Ladycross Infant and Nursery School are deeply saddened by the news that Queen Elizabeth II has died. As a sign of respect, we held a minute’s silence in our afternoon assembly and placed flowers with the Queen’s portrait by the tree we planted to celebrate her Jubilee.

During Science Week, EYFS had a visit from a Doctor. She spoke to them about what Doctors do and how important they are at helping us in our community. We then got to have a go at using her fabulous equipment. #peoplewhohelpuseyfs

Year 2 had a visit from Chris, a structural engineer at TG Escapes.  We heard all about his job and how he designs and builds bespoke modular timber frame eco-friendly classrooms. We had a design brief- to make a structure that was 3cm high and would hold a heavy object A6 size.

We had Amie, a Planner for Construction structures. We role played planning the location of an electrical tower, wiring it up and doing quality control. We also laid underground pipes before electrifying the grid. Y1 had a fabulous time and learnt a lot about the role.

Reception have had so much fun this morning! We’ve had a police officer, fire fighter and paramedic come to talk to us about their jobs. We got to have a go at turning on the siren, try on the fire fighters uniform, apply bandages and listen to heart beats! 🚑🚒🚓

This week Reception are learning all about people who help in their community. Today we have learnt about postal workers and the process of how a letter gets delivered. We wrote our own letter and posted it back to school to see how long it takes to arrive. 📮

Year 2 had a super time taking part in WW2 Day where they went back in time to experience what life was like as evacuees. They looked fantastic 👍🏻😅

A big congratulations to one of our Reception children who won the Debutots colouring competition held at Beeston Rylands Community Association Gala Day in the Summer and won an Early Years drama class for him and his class.

In Reception this week our Nursery Rhyme is Humpty Dumpty and our story is Little Lumpty. We’ve had so much fun doing a science experiment about how to protect Humpty using different materials and using our small world to recreate the story of Little Lumpty too 🥳🥚

Ladycross Nursery had a fantastic seaside day. We ate ice cream, paddled, made sandcastles, played skittles and hook a duck. The sun was shining so we could even enjoy a sunbathe and a puppet show!

Class 3 had a magical day yesterday taking part in Harry Potter day.  Everybody looked fabulous and we all had great fun.  Our day included Potions class, Quidditch, wand making and chocolate frog making. ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
