Minecraft - the Magi arrive with their cuboid gifts.
The birth of the Saviour is an event for us all. We are all challenged to explore its relevance and reinterpret the scene from our viewpoint.
Here we stand even closer to Jesus than Mary. Where would you be in your picture?
A Ukraniannativity. Mary and baby joined by Magi, angels, a shepherd, even the sun and moon plus children. All come to wonder.
The magi carry their usual gifts - gold, frankincense, myrrh. The children have a blanket and a teddy. Whether ornate or simple, God welcomes our worship
A smooth, tactile, wooden set from the Holy Land. The characters' faces are expressionless, their gifts unclear. It invites us bring our own emotions and gifts to the Messiah.
How are you feeling today? Happy or sad, weary or full of energy, there is room for you at the manger.
Who can resist shaking a snowglobe and watching the flakes settle?
Jesus’ birth involved a lot of upheaval. Yet “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19).
Let’s pray that in 2021 things will settle and we will have a chance to ponder.
A lady gave us this before moving - a reminder of Jesus' birth and friendship.
“I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you… For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance” (1 Corinthians 15). We're called to pass on what we've received too - the gospel.
A 13-piece “jigsaw”
Not the most challenging but a reminder us of God's invitation to put the pieces together and allow the full story to speak to us. “Christ Jesus... made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant.” (Philippians 2:5-8). This is our God!
Two figures in a shelter looking down on the Son of God lying in a manger set within a ring – a symbol of eternity. A captured moment but with a timeless offer of hope to all. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End,” (Revelation 22:13).
We should've added this picture on Sunday
A rather stripped down scene - no angel, no shepherds or wise men. Just an ordinary mother and father staring in wonder at their baby son while the animals look on.
What an incredibly ordinary way for God Incarnate to come to earth!
