Over the last 2 years Iโve raised $900+ for books for my students. With that Iโve purchased 300+ books for my students to take home & add to their home libraries.
For those of you with critique partnersโ where do you find them?
I tend to meet a lot of PB and YA people at conferences but I think working with other chapter book/early MG people would be my best bet.
@ElanaRoth Was just coming to say this! Thereโs this huge gap between chapter books and middle grade and it just doesnโt make sense. If the longer end of chapter books is 12k and a short middle grade is 25k what about the space in between? ๐ฉ
Attending an agent/editor day last month and getting feedback on my first chapter was soooo helpful. Wish I could have read my whole book to my group ๐ฉ
Been living my very best teacher life at @getyourteachon ๐ฅฐ
Canโt believe itโs almost over but looking forward to going back home and working on my book!
Cutting down this word count is so hard, its like I picked these words for a reason!
But last night I was at 13,555 and now Iโm at 13, 475 even after adding some descriptive details that were missing before. So a win is a win at this point.
So can we talk about how 15yo Ariel meets Eric. They spend time less than a week together and during that time she spends most of it unable to speak (and they donโt write anything or use sign language so itโs all looks and vibes) and by the end of the week theyโre married?!
@KiarraThaWriter I love that so much! Also a nice story switch up because often the guys are supposed to be the super romantic ones and plan all the cute things. So I love this.
So if you attend an event and get submission info for editors and submit to an editor and theyโre like yeah we like this, letโs do it! But you donโt have an agent, how does that work?
Asking for myself lol
