In the next 90days I'll be putting my thoughts together into the book titled "#LagosYellowBuses: Definitive guide to ricks, competition & outsmarting others" using #Danfo drivers as case studies.
Lagos is very dense and her citizens are street smart. So most drivers don't work alone for fear their money might go amiss but they still take passengers on board if they have to do the entire job alone. #LagosYellowBuses#tobidelly#tobidellybooks
On Wednesday I was in a #LagosYellowBus for over 2hours stuck in traffic between Iyana Ipaja and Palmgroove. The #Danfo bus I entered was tattered with only one side mirror by the driver's seat. <<thread>>
3. They try to make do with what they have. I've seen buses in their worst state driven by these drivers cover very long distances. This is a result of understanding the bus, the mechanism for controlling it and mastering the art of manoeuvring without breaking down.
When it comes to selecting their counterpart, i. e. the conductor, the driver usually have every right to select whoever he wants except there's a higher authority stopping him from doing so, like the bus owner. #LagosYellowBuses#team#teammate#tobidelly#tobidellybooks
Its very ironic that the average #LagosYellowBus driver or #Danfo driver doesn't have a side mirror. He'll keep shouting "watch, watch, watch..." that's instructing the conductor to serve as the mirror. He's good, he only need to focus ahead and listen to his #teammate.
Unbundling the value chain of Risks and Competition in the #LagosYellowBuses book is going to be very exciting. I'll be using different risk chart analysis to expose how #Danfo drivers knowingly compete on the brinks of high entropy level and pressure. #tobidelly#tobidellybooks
