When a David or Joseph moment happens, some of the elder brothers can become unsettled. They wonder why they have been passed over when by age, experience or order of birth, they believe the honour should have come to them first.
But God’s ways are not our ways, and favour does not always conform to human expectations of fairness. Sometimes, many people may labour in the same field, yet one person finds unusual favour with both God and man. When that happens, the wise response is not resentment or competition. After all, no one wins a fight against favour.
The better path is to recognize the grace upon that person, support them and help elevate them. In doing so, we become partakers in the blessing, the mission and the success that favour makes possible.
