GOOD FRIDAY REFLECTION

Good Friday is a day of reflection and contemplation, a day to remember the profound sacrifice that Jesus made for humanity. It is a day to reflect on the love and compassion that Jesus demonstrated throughout his life and in his final moments on the cross. His sacrifice reminds us of the importance of love, forgiveness, and selflessness in our lives.

It marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, who gave His life to save humanity from sin. His sacrifice is a powerful reminder of love, forgiveness, and hope. Good Friday teaches us that even in the face of pain and injustice, compassion and faith can guide us through. Let us take this day to reflect on our actions and choose kindness, just as Jesus did.

On a day like this we are offered profound lessons in humility, obedience and love as Christ examplified ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

May we live our lives consciously in remembrance that Christ Jesus, the Son of God died to redeem us from every negativity.

As we approach the climax of Passiontide remain blessed.

My dear esteemed faithfuls

As we step into this new month, I greet you with the warmest felicitations and the deepest assurance of hope. Though the road ahead may seem uncertain, the Labour Party stands firmly with you. Your energy, your ideas, and your dreams are the true foundation upon which a greater Nigeria will be built.

Do not lose heart; brighter days are within our reach if we remain united, purposeful, and resolute.

Yet, even as we embrace this new beginning, our hearts bleed over the recent barbaric killings in Jos.
Once again, innocent lives have been brutally cut short, and the entire nation is grieving. These incessant security lapses have become a national shame that can no longer be tolerated.

To the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, this is your moment to prove your mettle. Let your administration be remembered as the one that finally delivered proactive security intelligence and swift, uncompromising justice. Nigerians are watching; we demand action, not excuses.

To our youths, I urge you: rise with critical awareness. Understand the ideology that places security at the heart of national development. Assist the security forces whenever you can, but do not hesitate to speak out and hold them accountable when they fall short.

Your voices and vigilance are powerful weapons for lasting change.

Together, let us turn grief into strength and hope into action.

A new Nigeria is ours to create, and it begins with us.

**International Women’s Day 2026: Give to Gain**

Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women everywhere. This year’s theme, “Give to Gain", reminds us that the progress we seek as a society begins with what we are willing to contribute our time, our voices, our support, and our opportunities.

When women give their leadership, compassion, and ideas, communities gain stability, innovation, and growth. When we give girls access to education, they gain the power to shape their future. When we give women a seat at the decision-making table, our nations gain stronger policies and more inclusive development.

But “Give to Gain” is not only a call for women to keep pushing forward; it is also a call to governments, institutions, and communities to invest in women and to give equal opportunities, protection, and respect. Because when women thrive, everyone benefits.

Let us continue to give courage where there is fear, give support where there are barriers, and give opportunities where there has been exclusion. In doing so, we will gain a more just, prosperous, and united world.

Under the enduring vision of our founding leaders and the guiding principles of our democracy, we remain committed to strengthening our communities, creating opportunities for our youth, empowering our women, and ensuring security and economic stability for all.

Let this month be one of unity, resilience, and shared responsibility. Together, we can overcome challenges, build stronger institutions, and create a future that reflects our highest aspirations.

May this new month bring peace to our homes, success to our endeavors, and continued growth to our beloved nation.

A Passionate Call for Robust Social Welfare:
Prioritising Our Youths and Elders

My dear compatriots, especially the energetic young men and women stepping out of NYSC camps across Nigeria and our respected elders who have given their prime years in service to this nation,

I write to you today with fire in my spirit and unwavering conviction in my heart. For too long, we have watched our most vulnerable fall through the cracks of governance, and I refuse to remain silent.
Social welfare is not a luxury or an afterthought; it is a non-negotiable foundation of any nation that claims to value its people. It is the covenant we owe to every citizen who has contributed, or is ready to contribute, to the greatness of Nigeria.

Let me speak plainly: I see our youths who have just completed their NYSC as a special treasure. These are not statistics; they are doctors, engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs and future leaders who have served their fatherland with discipline and patriotism. Yet, many return home to empty hands, mounting bills, and a job market that offers little mercy. The transition from service to sustainable livelihood must never be left to chance. We have demanded over time, a deliberate, well-funded social welfare package that includes:

- Structured post-NYSC unemployment support and skills-enhancement stipends for at least 12 months.
- Massive entrepreneurship grants and soft loans tailored for NYSC alumni.
- Mandatory one-year paid internship or apprenticeship programmes linked to both public and private sectors.
- Free or heavily subsidised vocational and digital training that matches today’s economy.

Let me be very honest with you. Government has initiated some programmes that sound good on paper. For our youths fresh from NYSC, there is the Nigerian Youth Academy with its “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative, startup grants under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and efforts to create jobs through digital and entrepreneurial schemes. For our elders, there have been talks of implementing free healthcare for low-income retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme, pension increases, and clearance of backlogs. These are steps in the right direction, and I acknowledge them.

But… and this “but” is very loud in my spirit – many of these programmes have been entrusted to people who failed woefully in executing them. Delays upon delays, money disappearing, ghost beneficiaries, political favouritism, and promises that never reach the grassroots. Our youths finish NYSC and still roam the streets jobless for years. Our retirees queue endlessly for pensions that come late or not at all, while some battle sickness without medicine. And what does the government do to those who failed? Nothing! No sack, no prosecution, no punishment. This is the painful truth. There has been a serious lack of political will to make these things work the way they should. It is not enough to announce programmes; we must demand full, transparent, and timely implementation.

These young people are not liabilities; they are Nigeria’s greatest asset. I will fight relentlessly until every youth finishing NYSC knows that the system has their back, not just with words, but with concrete, immediate provisions. This is my passion, and on this I do not bend.

Equally dear to my heart are our elderly retirees; the fathers and mothers who built the civil service, the police, the military, the schools and the hospitals we enjoy today. Many now battle hypertension, diabetes and untreated ailments because their pensions arrive late or not at all. Some sleep with one eye open, still saddled with the responsibility of solving issues for their children even though they are graduates. This is unacceptable. A nation that forgets its elders has lost its soul.

I insist on a strengthened, dignified social welfare framework for retirees that guarantees:
- Prompt, inflation-adjusted monthly pensions.

Today, I celebrate you with every fiber of my being because you genuinely deserve it. Your quiet sacrifices, your steadfast loyalty to the cause of a better Lagos and a greater Nigeria, and your selfless service have not gone unnoticed. You inspire so many of us to keep pushing forward with hope and resilience.

As we lift our voices in gratitude for your life, I decree and pray two powerful covenant blessings over you and your precious family in the mighty name of Jesus:
1. The Blessing of Divine Preservation and Longevity. May the Lord surround you and your household like a shield. Every arrow that flies by day or terror by night shall not come near you. You shall live long, fulfilling every purpose God has ordained for your life, in good health, joy, and peace. No weapon formed against you or your loved ones shall prosper!

2. The Blessing of Overflowing Abundance and Favour — May doors of supernatural opportunities swing wide open for you. Your labour in the vineyard, both in the party and in your personal endeavours, shall yield abundant fruit. Favour shall locate you in unexpected places; provisions shall meet you before needs arise. Your family shall experience multiplied blessings: wisdom for your children, unity in your home, and overflowing joy in every season.
You are loved, appreciated, and highly valued. May this new year of your life be your best yet filled with greater grace, deeper impact, and undeniable ttestimonies.

Lagos LP Condemns Inhumane Demolitions by APC-Led Lagos State Government

The Lagos State Labour Party strongly condemns the renewed wave of demolitions being carried out by the APC-led Lagos State Government in Makoko, Jakande Estate and other parts of the state.
