The challenge is significant. Globally , more than 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced annually _ @UNEP, while Lagos alone generates over 13,000 metric tonnes of solid waste daily.

Through initiatives like the Plastic-Free Lagos Challenge, EKO Clean Up and the Green Inheritance Project, we have worked alongside communities, innovators, and partners to tackle one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: plastic pollution.

Waste is no longer waste when a community decides to take action. ♻️🌍

Last week, we were at Ipaja Market in Alimosho LGA, Lagos’ largest LGA with over 4 million residents, for a community-based Waste Collection Drive marking the first phase of the #theGreenInheritanceProject.

The Waste Collection Drive will directly feed into the next phase of #theGreenInheritanceProject,our Eco-Innovation Hackathon where we will support tech-enabled solutions tailored for localised urban waste tracking and circular economy innovation in Lagos, Nigeria, and beyond.

Many thanks to Ecobarter for ensuring every recyclable material was properly weighed and collected.
