Pocketpair says it has no plans to use generative AI in its games, as players don’t want it and its artists prefer creating things themselves.

“We don’t believe in it,” said publishing and communications lead John “Bucky” Buckley.

“Gamers don’t want it,” Buckley said, adding that many of the studio’s artists enjoy making assets by hand rather than relying on AI tools.

“We have a lot of artists who like doing stuff themselves.”

The studio says its artists create thousands of sketches and that human creativity remains at the heart of its games.

The company sees no reason to adopt it when both its developers and players are happy with the current approach.
