UPDATE: PS5 players are now calling for an indefinite blackout in protest against Sony, with no end date.
The movement could see participants skip major releases like GTA 6 and Wolverine until Sony changes course.
I NEED PEOPLE TO LISTEN - THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
I am seriously considering taking legal action against Sony over the decision to end physical PlayStation game disc production in January 2028. I have the financial means and the intention to pursue this seriously. What I need now is help gathering documented evidence, timelines, factory information, corporate statements, archived marketing.
Allegation:
Sony’s own CFO Lin Tao subsequently stated that the company had put “a lot of thought and time” into the decision and had “cautiously considered this” before reaching its conclusion. Sony also explicitly said it chose to announce the decision around 1.5 years before the 2028 cutoff.
That raises a very simple question:
When did Sony actually make this decision?
Because the evidence surrounding Sony’s manufacturing operations raises even more questions.
Sony DADC’s facility in Thalgau, Austria - its remaining wholly owned optical disc manufacturing facility - has been preparing for a major transition toward Micro Optics. Sony says it has been developing these new products for several years and approximately €30 million has reportedly been invested in the new technology. Employees had already been moved away from disc production and trained for the new operation.
Reports indicate that the Thalgau facility currently produces around 600,000 discs per day, with roughly half connected to PlayStation, while production is expected to fall dramatically by 2028. The facility is being transitioned toward optical microlens production.
Sony had already made a sufficiently concrete decision to abandon physical PlayStation releases while continuing to sell PS5 Disc Edition consoles without informing consumers, there could be serious questions regarding consumer information, misleading marketing, contractual expectations and the timing of Sony’s disclosure.
The fact that Sony’s remaining disc facility was already being transformed toward another technology, with employees being retrained and significant investment already made, makes the timeline particularly important.
It’s about whether consumers were properly informed about a major strategic decision before they spent hundreds of euros buying hardware whose primary purpose for them was physical game ownership.
My lawyer has already contacted the Thalgau facility to ask when these retraining measures and transition plans were first considered and when the relevant decisions were made. The answers may help establish the timeline and clarify what Sony and its manufacturing operations knew, and when they knew it.

Not sure who this person is, but I can certainly say he's earned my respect. As a hustler myself, I can definitely say that it's been 3 months and he'd already have started experiencing the "operating cost" and he'll definitely learn a lot from it; provided he pays attn. to it.
🚨 A Bengaluru BBA student shares his three-month experience working as a Rapido captain during college vacation.
The student said, “I’d usually go online around 8 AM and come back by 4:30 PM, so roughly 8.5 hours a day. On a decent day, I could make around Rs 1,200.”
One of my NIGHTMARES:
Running into "people you may know" but IRL while I'm trying to chill with the guys after dealing with a situation. Brrrrrrrrr
NOT ONCE! TWICE!! WITHOUT MY HATTTT!!! IN TWOOO DIFF CITIESSSSSSD?!?!!???!
@capybaraaii And I care why? Who put this is in my feed? Why am I getting notified about this?
Ps: that tells you more about yourself than your environment.
Saw 100s of twts about people complaining about people complaing about increase in gas prices. It's insane how people have hard time understanding diff bw recurring experiences vs. 1-time purchases. IT'S NOT ABOUT A FEW XTRA $; ITS ABT A FEW $ EVERYDAY!
I can't even believe someone can be this dumb. When you pay for a game, you pay for A GAME, which is a PRODUCT. Booking a taxi is essentially paying for a service you dumfuck. Quite seriously the dumbest and most useless tweet I've seen in almost a decade.
@xMBGx No, it would not change my opinion. Again, why spend $800 - $1000+ on a digital-only console when the PC already exists and can already do that and more?
An overhaul would not change the fact that, at that point, Sony would control the marketplace on games and set prices high.
This is 100% the point. At this point, it's more about our (gamers') rights as a consumer. If money is spent for "owning" smtg, it should be 100%. @Sony ownership shouldn't be partial if the amount being paid is in full. #gaming is more about #community than the games themselves.
A Message For All Gamers:
We don't ask that you agree with our position, but that you respect our desire for physical media the same way WE respect your right to play digital-titles. What @Sony is proposing strikes at the very heart of gaming for many consumers. You may believe that an all-digital future is inevitable, and you may be correct, but many of us, gamers just like you, feel that this is a chance to send a strong message to the industry, a message that we believe benefits both digital and physical players.
📲WE BELIEVE that choice is important for everyone.
📲WE BELIEVE that competition in the marketplace is healthy.
📲WE BELIEVE that video game preservation is a legitimate argument for the continuation of physical media.
📲WE BELIEVE that termination of accounts and delisting of games/loss of content are legitimate concerns for advocates of physical media.
📲WE BELIEVE that gamers who pay for a product should OWN that product, not simply rent the license.
📲WE BELIEVE that Sony has acted in bad faith towards its customers in how they have managed the decision to phase out #PhysicalGames
📲WE BELIEVE that both physical and digital media can and should coexist.
📲WE BELIEVE that, as stakeholders, all players should have a voice in the decisions that affect gaming.
📲WE BELIEVE that, if left unchallenged, corporations like Sony will act out of self-interest and not in the interests of gamers.

And that's how it's done ladies & gentlemen. This is it. Consumers are done being pushed around! Wanting to retain the result of a service OR a product you paid for isn't just a request or demand anymore. It's a #right! Let's take what's rightfully ours.
24 hours after the announcement and #PSBlackout is already a partial success!
Players, creators and media continue to spread awareness about the downsides of a digital-only future, and why physical games are important. Keep educating people! Keep the backlash going!
