A lot of people don’t pay attention to details when they read.

Manchester City are being probed over the period from 2009/10 to 2017/18. That is the period the financial allegations are concerned with.

Pep Guardiola still went on to win five Premier League titles after that period 2018/19, 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24.

He won 4 Premier League titles in a row from 2020/21 to 2023/24. City also broke the 100 point barrier. He achieved it by being better than everyone of us. It’s not because of any charges. They played the best football at that time.

You can discuss the allegations, you can discuss what happens, but you cannot rewrite the timeline.

Accept it. He dogwalked the EPL.

The Premier League and the Red Cartel clubs have created a set of PSR rules and regulations that have made it impossible for teams to consistently challenge for trophies without breaking the rules.

❌ Manchester City and Chelsea have broken the rules attempting to win trophies and been hit with 115 and 74 charges respectively.

❌ Aston Villa and Newcastle build squads that are capable of consistently challenging near the top of the Premier League, then get decimated by PSR and are forced to sell their best players.

People are saying it like Man City were cheating on the pitch that’s why they were winning.

1. Financial information — 54 charges

From 2009/10 to 2017/18, City were accused of failing to provide accurate financial information to the Premier League.

This particularly concerned: revenue, sponsorship, income, operating costs
the club’s overall financial position

2. Player and manager payments — 14 charges

City were accused of failing to properly disclose the full amounts paid to players and managers between 2009/10 and 2017/18.

3. UEFA Financial Fair Play — 5 charges

City were accused of failing to comply with UEFA’s financial regulations/FFP rules between 2013/14 and 2017/18.

4. Premier League Profitability & Sustainability Rules — 7 charges

They were also accused of breaching the Premier League’s own profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) during 2015/16–2017/18.

5. Failure to cooperate — 35 charges

City were accused of not properly cooperating with the Premier League’s investigation, which ran from December 2018 to February 2023.

But I keep seeing people talk about it as if the charges prove that City won all those Premier League titles because they cheated on the pitch.

There is no charge here saying City fixed matches, bribed referees, manipulated results or illegally influenced individual games.
