We cannot allow our voices to be silenced and our humanity to be stripped. Because if we stand against Africans on #30June, it's not just their humanity that hangs in the balance. It's ours too.
Fikile Mbalula's messaging on the current anti-immigrant mobilisation may be mixed, but in these clips he doesn't pull any punches, stating
1. While the Zulu king has been responsible Jacob Zuma and the MK Party have been reckless
2. The authority for dealing with immigration belongs to the state. People cannot take the law into their own hands
3. International perceptions that South Africans are xenophobic will result in us paying a high price, economically and politically.
We reject xenophobia.
Every person deserves dignity, respect and safety, regardless of where they come from. South Africa knows the pain of discrimination and should never turn it on others.
Choose compassion over fear, unity over division, and humanity over hatred.
