MJ would AVERAGE 50 PPG in today's NBA 🤣🤣🤣

Proof there is NO POSSIBLE WAY MJ averages 50 PPG in today's NBA.

Team Scoring has been 110+ PPG since the 2018-19 season (very similar to when MJ entered the league).

The most FGA's per game any player has taken in that time is 24.5 by Harden in 2018-19

Harden averaged 36.1 PPG while taking:
13.2 - 3PA's per game at 36.8% (career 3P% is 36.4)
11.3 - 2PA's per game at 52.8% (career 2P% is 51.0)
11.0 - FTA's per game at 87.9% (career FT% is 86.0)

As you can see Harden's shooting percentages were very close to his career averages.

MJ's career shooting number are
32.7% on 3PA's if you include the shortened years
28.8% on 3PA's from the standard 3 point line
51.0% on 2PA's
83.5% on FTA's

MJ is worse across the board compared to Harden so how would he average 50 PPG?

53.9% of Harden's shots were 3's
MJ never took more than 12.5% of his shots from 3 with the standard 3pt line.

MJ needed 27.8 FGA's per game to reach 37.1 PPG and that's with illegal defenses giving him 1v1 opportunities all game long and nobody under the rim to guard the basket.
It's not the same defenses played today plus the player are way more athletic across the league.

MJ needed 27.8 shots per game to score 37.1 PPG meaning he'd need 37+ shots per game to score 50 and that's without descreasing his percentages which would surely go down if he was consistently shooting 37x a game.

Since 2018-19 there have been 16x where a player has taken 37+ shots in a game.

MJ stans actually think MJ would be able to get off 37 shots per game for an entire season while maintaining his shooting splits all year.

Even if we lower it to say 30 shots per game there's no possible way he averages 50.

Let's break it down based off his career numbers:

92.6% of MJ's shots are 2's (shooting at 51.0%)
7.4% of MJ's shots are 3's (shooting 28.8%, he's shooting from the standard 3pt line, not the shortened one).
MJ averages 1 FTA for every 2.8 FGA for his career

30 shots per game
27.8 - 2PA's
2.2 - 3PA's
10.8 - FTA's

14.2 made 2's
0.6 made 3's
9.0 made FT's
39.2 PPG based on 30 shots per game

MJ's BEST shooting year was 1989-90 where he shot:
54.8 on 2PA's
37.6 on 3PA's
84.8 on FTA's

Even using these numbers with 30 shots per game we get:

15.2 made 2's
0.8 made 3's
9.2 made FTA's
42.0 PPG based on 30 shots per game using his best shooting splits of his career.

Even with 30 shots per game, with his best shooting splits, he doesnt even get to 50.

Nobody is taking over 24 shots per game today.

Stop the lying, 50 PPG today would NEVER fucking happen.
