We hope all our families have enjoyed a wonderful summer break. We are very excited to welcome the children back to Hampton Lakes tomorrow, Thursday 4 September, as we begin a new academic year together.
Year 4 showed great patience and resilience in DT this week. In this unit they designed and sewed pouches for their reading books. They worked really hard and the results were spectacular!
To mark the beginning of their new topic βA Pirateβs Life for Meβ, Year 2 went on a treasure hunt to look for clues. The children loved exploring the myths about pirates and were fascinated to find out that pirates still exist today! π΄ββ οΈ
Year 4 had a fantastic day immersing themselves in all things Roman! They created edible Roman roads and mosaic pictures, made shields and helmets and also learned some Latin to chant like Roman soldiers! We finished off the day with a spectacular Roman feast.
Year 3 continued their Fighting Fit topic. After discussing muscles, tendons and ligaments, children demonstrated how a skeleton moves by creating a moving model hand using card, straws and string.
For science year 3 created their own soil profiles. Having learnt & discussed the different layers of soil, including bedrock, parent material, sub soil, topsoil and organic matter, the children created their own profiles to further understand their learning.
In DT, year 3 learnt about pneumatics and applied their knowledge to design an erupting volcano with an inflating balloon causing the lid to erupt on a shoebox.
