Tribal women, farmers in Nabarangpur, Odisha protest proposed nuclear plant over ancestral land & livelihood fears. Development at cost of tribal rights is not development. No consent, no justice.
Has the Government so completely abandoned its duty of accountability that it now relies on detention to silence those who demand it?
At Jantar Mantar, young citizens exercising their democratic right to peaceful protest, even while waving the national Tricolour, find themselves in judicial custody. At India Gate, the grieving parents of Ankita Bhandari, seeking justice for their daughter, are detained at 4 in the morning, alongside Congress workers who stood in solidarity with them. A protester is not an offender. A grieving parent is not a threat. The distinction should not need explaining to those entrusted with governing.
What threat to public order do peaceful protesters pose? What purpose is served by subjecting bereaved parents, already enduring an unimaginable tragedy, to such indignity?
The Constitution does not guarantee citizens the right to protest only when their questions are convenient to those in power. That right is not conditional upon the Government’s approval. Nor can it be restricted merely because its exercise causes discomfort.
The power to detain is not the power to silence. The demand for justice does not end at the gates of a police station. Nor does the courage to speak out disappear at the threat of arrest. The people of this country have never needed permission to stand up for what is right. And they must never be made to believe otherwise.
@INCIndia
Modi is even detaining rape victim’s parents just because they were demanding justice peacefully at the INDIA GATE.
If the BJP existed during Nirbhaya, not only would they arrest her parents but also garland the rapists.
We don’t hate them enough.
Just when it seems the Delhi Police cannot possibly commit any further atrocities, another video emerges that is even more horrifying.
It now appears that the police themselves are more dangerous than the goons.
#JudicialCustody
Taking a cue from the Delhi Police,
The UP Police have now also started torturing students,
Police are engaging in brutality against doctors in Lucknow who are protesting to demand the release of their outstanding salaries.
In the dead of night, the elderly parents of Ankita Bhandari, who were peacefully protesting at India Gate and demanding justice for their daughter, were detained by Amit Shah’s police.
PM Modi and Amit Shah, answer these questions:
❓Is demanding justice for a murdered daughter a crime in your "Achche Din" wala Bharat?
❓Why were her elderly parents detained in the middle of the night? What are you so afraid of?
❓ Why is Dushyant Gautam so dear to you that you are willing to humiliate and mistreat grieving parents to protect him?
❓Is this your idea of protecting the daughters and mothers of this country?
A government that fears the cries of grieving parents has lost all moral authority.
👉Ankita deserves justice.
👉Her parents deserve answers.
👉And this country deserves a government that stands with its daughters, not against them.
