Hey, I've been going through a lot... like a LOT. I'm going through a lot of social transformation which may or may not harm me in the long run but may also be as beneficial. Which is why I'm mostly quiet on social media these days.
I know that the design is based on Indian dancers and not Indonesian dancers but guess what? Dance costumes in Indonesia, specifically in Java were inspired by ancient India!
Anyway left pic is wayang orang
Starting to think that video essays should be more normalized in an academic setting. It's much easier for me to cite information from them compared to regular text books.
I was considered "verbal but non communicative" as a toddler, so I was effectively nonverbal. (I dunno how to use "speaking" terms with this)
Had to rely on nonverbal iq tests for a while
So I don't know how it manifests itself as an adult.
I'm in this "uncanny valley" category where I'm too articulate to need adequate, mainstream, help provided by NTs and not articulate enough to properly speak on behalf of the autistic community.
things that are scams:
💩 the companies that email you asking to print your art on merch in exchange for royalties
💩 art contests, specifically ones asking you to draw their character/IP that you don’t own
💩 those emails where they invite you to a gallery you can’t attend
Since America is not a monolith and that certain areas are more high-context, I needed to clarify that I spent my childhood in Northeastern United States.
Just starting to realize that as an autistic who's used to a low context culture (American), communicating with (born and raised) Indonesian autistics can be challenging for me because they come from a high context culture.
So being raised/masking in a high context culture can make an autistic's communication pretty unique, and I find that eye-opening haha.
I should go read that book on intercultural communication.
