#W23POPMUS I believe that continuing the enforcement of a Canadian music quota would be beneficial to the new artist on the rise that needs a bump in their careers. This is seen on Spotify all the time through having top charts divided into countries I.E. Canada's Top 100.
#W23POPMUS I don't think Wald's assessment is true today. I believe that young people would rather have the experience of live musicians even if they are a cover band. Oftentimes today with autotune, original artists don't sound the same performing live and can be disappointing.
#W23POPMUS # If no credit is given to original artists, this should be considered theft. So long that credit is given to the original artists I believe that any cover or parody of the art is deemed as musical expression and should no be dismissed.
#W23POPMUS Ray Charles used a breaking voice as a tool to convey the emotions behind the music. Breaking voice delivers a blues/soul feeling to the music to express pain and struggle through intentional voice cracking. I've Got a Woman is a perfect example of this.
#W23POPMUS With each new step into a more digital music experience accessibility to music becomes easier. When looking back at the time of tapes and vinyl we see that music was not easily accessible and was treated more as an experience like watching a movie.
#W23POPMUS Popular music creates false needs often. A lot of lyrics in music today do not have any meaning or make much sense. Popular music operates the same as a business as it wishes to appeal to a broader audience in order to create more profit. More money for less effort.
