@AdamH1966@deesnider …it’s hard to say… the 80s were a very special time for Heavy Metal. L’Amour and @TwistedSisterNY grew up together, and NWOBHM had just hit the U.S. It was the perfect storm. The scene was extremely unified, and the fans were extremely supportive.
@Tyorbs@DJAlexKayne L’Amour did not close in 1984, the first temporary closing was in 1991. The last time Jay Jay and Twisted Sister played the club was in 1984, just before Stay Hungry took off. L’Amour reopened in late 1991, closed again for 4 years between 94-98 then opened from ‘98 until 2004.
@Tyorbs Although the club had several DJs, @DJAlexKayne was L’Amour’s original Metal DJ. He would lay down metal sets before, in between, and then after the bands. Wednesday to Saturday. He is responsible for breaking many metal bands and helping to establish their East Coast fanbases.
@Tyorbs Yes @DJAlexKayne had the 7-inch although these days it’s extremely rare to find. Dez gave him one to play at the club. Pretty sure Lace only played L’Amour Brooklyn once or twice. We’ve never seen any video of it.
