@BBGreatMoments And Maddux counters with a 1.56 era in 1994 when the league average was 4.92. Both players were great and there are arguments for both, but Maddux did it over nearly twice as many innings. This really isn't close.
@historyinmemes These stories always leave out so many important details. The US never intended to keep the Philippines, from the start the plan was to get things stable enough for self rule. The final form of that plan was put in place in 1912, and the date set then was kept.
@NicholasSm77737@archeohistories Actually not true, those would have been the French who were there to end their slave raiding. And had to do it twice.
@archeohistories Meanwhile in the real world... they were only a small part of dahomey's military and their combat record isn't very impressive. And, of course, their primary job was breaking slaves through torture and murdering family. They were pure evil.
@RobinKral1@AncientHistorry Wellington wasn't anything special. The French army had just taken so many losses it was done at that point. And he did fight to defend individual rights a lot for most of his life.
@Jamyies@AncientHistorry Most of his wars were actually defensive and were started by the Brits. We have a warped view of him because of 200 year old English propaganda. He got bad at the end, but mostly he wasn't the problem.
