The Women of Caprock series of interconnected standalones is for every woman who's ever struggled to find a balance between her professional and personal lives. And for every woman who's had to choose between being respected and being herself.

Fridays are such a great nap day for me. Company meeting on the morning, quiet house in the afternoon. Sleepy eyes drifting closed. π΄π€
Edits can wait.

This week, I quietly hit a landmark with my first book. I've sold over 200 copies of *Left Turn* worldwideβhalf of those in Australia. Amazing to this small-town girl from West Texas!
Thank you for reading. Special thanks to those who reviewed it. π
Shout out to my lovely Australian readers: Thanks for making Left Turn a favorite #read! Grab it on #Kobo for $3.99 this May. And check out book two, Code Block.

My 8yo MacBook Pro is dying. I've done what I can to extend its life. I'm now without a dock and seeing the dynamic menu bar. Normally cool, but the predictive text it shows while writing is distracting.
But I'm getting used to it and my new Mac Mini is on its way. Woo hoo!
@kiragriffoo Can't describe camp here. πββοΈ
I do dialog and action first, then have to layer in description and narrative. Interiority is the worst.
@geniusoftheUS@kiragriffoo Pro tip: Google the item, find the article/sales description and use that to stimulate your creativity.
(From another hopelessly unfashionable writer. π)
@lhallwriter Yes. Sometimes they're an amalgamation of many people. Sometimes they're a replica of one person.
In my last book, an editor criticized a character for being over the top and not remotely real. I was like, "Those are exact quotes from things he said to me, Brenda." π
The quarterly newsletter is out! Read updates on my 2-month writing break to deal with a bum shoulder and neck, plus info on my new project and a few AI lawsuits we're watching.

I really love the editing process. I approach it systematically, one pass at a time, searching for specific items: voice pass, stakes pass, places to sprinkle in more of this or that.
How do you approach #editing?

@JoyAmos399432 This reviewer did a great job of describing it for me:
π¬ "A modern womanβs read. What a refreshing read, It was so nice to have a woman portrayed as a strong woman who did not need to be rescued! Entertaining and light enough to be escapism. Highly recommend."
π Strong women. Real careers. Unexpected love. π
What are my books about?
Women working in male-dominated industries, striving to earn their seat at the table. And just when they think they've figured it out, they fall in love, which complicates everything.
