The magistrate judge in the House case has denied plaintiff attorneys Jeffrey Kessler and Steve Berman’s challenge of the CSC over associated entities.
MMRs and sponsors will remain associated entities and are subject to scrutiny through the clearinghouse.
Big win for NCAA.
@McCannSportsLaw@Sportico Going to be interesting to watch how Kessler frames the disease argument plus the NFL’s significant interest in benefitting off of gambling activity.
Worked the last time they went to court.
Just in: NFL is declining to hold a supplemental draft this summer, currently leaving the 2027 Draft as the only way for QB Brendan Sorsby to enter the NFL.
A letter is being sent to Sorsby, and to all 32 NFL teams, to inform them of the league’s decision.
The league continues to try to show it has little tolerance for gambling issues.
Only a handful of people — Tulsky, Deslauriers, Brind’Amour and a few in the front office — knew Deslauriers had agreed to an extension when it was announced on stage during the parade. Hence the reaction from his teammates.
And for the people who are concerned he signed a contract while drinking (🙄), no, that wasn’t the “official” paperwork — Deslauriers had already signed that before.
NEWS: The Big 12 has filed a legal complaint in federal court against Texas Tech & the Texas AG, seeking declaratory judgement and a preliminary injunction to enforce its bylaws and potentially sanction the school for its plans to play Brendan Sorsby.

Big 12 ADs tell @YahooSports they’ve had “serious” talks on not playing Texas Tech. One SEC AD says there should be conversations about not playing Tech “in any sports.”
The Brendan Sorsby ruling has left an industry jarred.
“It’s total f***** bullshit.”
