There are hundreds of open source repos on @github by Chicago engineers solving civic issues

Ghost buses, property tax analysis, sidewalk accessibility, etc. Some really creative ones

No other city has civic participation like this Chicago should 100% tap it more directly

Formal procurement and RFPs move too slow / a lot of these engineers aren’t looking to get paid. They want a real problem and a clear ask.

Imagine if Chicago open sourced more of our problems. Give builders challenges / open data and they’ll show up. @aiclubchicago is proof of this

Cool to see @susanamendoza10 went to @chihacknight back in 2017. That should be the norm for our leaders
