@johnnyddavidson@rlcoachonthenet The IRL has partnered with subscription platform Premier Sports to broadcast the RLWC2026 in the UK/Ireland, with no games being shown on free-to-air. Has the IRL failed in its mandate to ‘grow the sport’ with the decision to not show any games on free-to-air in the UK?
@FletcherEnder@England_RL I believe the last world cup (s?) was licensed to the BBC for free. I understand the need for the governing bodies to be paid for hosting the events but at least SOME games should be free-to-air in the UK. How else will the game grow?
@footyindustryAU@JamesII4824 “If you’d read the article you’d know that it’s not exclusively reach”. Do you even read the slop that you copy and paste and claim as an “article”?
@sportandracing@delpops1234@footyindustryAU Just having a dig that there’s another sport with higher average viewer figures that will claim it’s the most watched sport in the country too. (Also I’m not 60+ so I don’t understand that reference 😉)
@johnnyddavidson Broncos' season was doomed from the start IMO. Watching them getting pummeled by KR after winning the Premiership was a little foreboding in retrospect.
@millfieldsports@defries_stephen I know you want soccer to be the #1 sport in the country, but no amount of wishful projecting on Twitter can achieve that.
@millfieldsports@defries_stephen Tom, people watch AFL/NRL from pubs/events too that isn't counted in tv ratings. The only difference is the WC live viewing sites which had a MAXIMUM of 60k viewers across the country. Melbourne, the heartland of soccer in the country, had only ~16k at fed square and AAMI park.
@refunder2753959@LonePatriot14 The legislation doesn’t apply to former members per se. If a person proves they ceased to be a member as soon as they found out it was relevant prohibited group, no offence occurs - s 114B.2(2). The only way it would apply to ‘former members’ is if they continued to be (1/2).
@ConstitLawAus This injunction will probably be rejected in accordance with A CJ’s reasoning in Castlemain, right? Prosecution, if any, would then be deferred/postponed until the substantive hearing’s decision?
