US, Iran War Escalates; oil prices jump up by 10%

The United States and Iran are back at war. The Memorandum of Understanding that President Trump once described as a test of the Islamic Republic's commitment to peace is now in tatters. In the long run, this collapse could severely backfire on Vice President JD Vance, the chief architect of the deal, who aims to run for the presidency in just two years.

To his credit, Mr. Vance, alongside the Pakistani Prime Minister and Pakistan's Chief of Defence Staff, tried his best to resolve the issues amicably. Judging by how negotiations evolved, two distinct camps within the Iranian establishment stymied the process: hardliners who rejected any engagement with the United States, and moderates, routinely overshadowed by their hardline counterparts, who could only push so far before hitting a dead end...

🛢️Oil reserves hit critical red zone as US-Iran conflict parches global supply

The United States significantly increased military pressure on Iran by launching targeted strikes against multiple military installations, including radar stations, speedboats, and missile storage facilities.

This military action followed an incident where a Qatari-owned tanker came under alleged Iranian fire while navigating the Strait of Hormuz along a shipping lane positioned closer to Oman than Iran.

The military conflict, understandably, is causing alarm in the energy markets on many fronts: the global petroleum reserves are falling and at very low level; the price of oil is surging; tankers are standard in the Strait of Hormuz, to name but a few.

The monumental task of drafting the Declaration fell to the legendary Committee of Five, whose words were debated and voted on during that fateful, sweltering summer in Philadelphia.

Seated right at the front is one of the Committee’s most brilliant minds: Benjamin Franklin. Before he risked everything to sign his name to the cause of liberty, Franklin was already world-famous for his fearless spirit—famously flying a kite in a thunderstorm to master lightning itself.

US-IRAN Framework Effect

The price of WTI has fallen below $80 for the first time since March. It is going to go down further - at least for the next 60 days!

The price of LNG, liquified natural gas, however, has only fallen slightly. Qatar, one of the largest exporters of LNG, announced today they will revive the production, badly affected by the war, and get back to where it was before.

If it happens, the price of LNG will go down as well, as the warmer weather in the Northern Hemisphere means less demand.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would stand firm against any pressure or threat after President Donald Trump threatened to target the country’s infrastructure.

“Critical infrastructure is the lifeblood of people’s lives. Threatening to target it, from transportation networks to the electricity and water industries, is not a show of strength but a sign of desperation in the face of a nation’s will,” Pezeshkian wrote on X.

“Iran, relying on the knowledge and capabilities of its specialists, national unity and solidarity, will stand firm against any pressure and threat,” he added.
