SB’s 5th Division was the same division that acquitted Jinggoy of plunder and reversed his conviction on direct and indirect bribery on appeal.

However, worth taking note on this case is there is a new junior member on the 5th division that was appointed less than 3 months after the reversal—Associate Justice Gener Gito.

Justice Gito was the Judge who granted Sen. De Lima’s bail in 2023 and later acquitted her of the final charges months prior to his appointment to Sandiganbayan.

He is the sole non Duterte appointee in the 5th division.
