It’s absolutely unbelievable to see such support in such a short amount of time.
Now’s not the time to slow the momentum, if you haven’t signed please do - let’s #savehospitality and get the government to finally listen.
#VATstheproblem
100,000 signatures in under 72 hours supporting 10% VAT on hospitality! Huge thanks to everyone who’s signed and shared so far. This is just the start - we’re aiming for 1 million. Let’s keep pushing. Share and get your teams involved 👉 https://t.co/MEDVqI2nlS
Spearheaded by @ChefTomKerridge we are backing the #VATsTheProblem campaign, calling for a 10% rate for all hospitality businesses, alongside other trade associations and industry colleagues.
Our members have consistently prioritised a lower rate of VAT, on a par with the majority of Europe, to stimulate growth and investment in our essential sector, and allow us to thrive.

Hospitality is united that #VATsTheProblem. A new sector-wide campaign, spearheaded by @ChefTomKerridge, is calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.
Hospitality pays too much tax, and VAT is the single biggest lever the Government can pull to support the sector. Sign the petition today 👇

HMRC has decided to punish 'nice pubs.'
They have ordered valuation officials to levy higher business rates on pubs that are in “attractive locations”, play an important role in the community, or are based in “character properties”. Pubs with playgrounds or those which serve a so-called "premium priced menu" will also be landed with higher taxes.
This is an extraordinarily disreputable approach to valuation but only to be expected once the independent Valuation Office was shoved under the control of HMRC by dim-witted Labour Minister James Murray. HMRC are as usual obsessed with extracting the maximum amount of cash from families & businesses
The unbridled arrogance of this man!
Blair may have made mistakes but he won three elections.
Starmer on the other hand is barely halfway through one term and the most unpopular PM ever. 🙄
Despite this war Ed pls tell me - do we or do we not have the highest energy costs in Europe?
Labour are all promise, promise, promise and then in power tax, tax, tax.
1/ The rise in the price cap because of a war we did not choose is deeply unwelcome news for households across the country.
We know people were under pressure before this crisis, and that’s why easing that burden is our number one priority.
@ShumBaloo Oh god the PTSD from that debacle 😳. Honestly the best way to benefit families would have been a blanket VAT cut on food eaten out. Even to 10 or even 15% would have made a massive difference to people plus helped hospitality.
A few questions regarding the 5% vat rate for kids meals…
If a kid orders a main meal - does that count?
We have a large selection of ‘small plates’, kids can obviously choose these… do they count?
Age limit or big kids too?
Assuming major guidance is coming?
