Day 5: We visited the trenches at Sanctuary Wood near Ypres. Pupils were shocked by the rawness of the conditions that soldiers had to endure. Summer R (S6) read Dulce et Decorum est at Vancouver corner where the first gas attack took place in the war. @LarbertHigh @S3LHSYT

Day 5: Final visit was to the Last Post remembrance service at the Menin Gate. Over 500 members of the public attended. The service was incredibly moving & Rory M and Isabella M (S3) laid a wreath on behalf of @LarbertHigh . Dexter F did a fantastic job playing the bagpipes!

This afternoon our S3 Historians and French pupils visited Cabaret Rouge to learn about people from the Larbert War Memorial. Excellent visit at Vimy Ridge exploring life in trenches and communication tunnels! @S3LHSYT @S6LHSYT @LarbertHigh

Day 1 of the S3 History WW1 Battlefields trip is truly underway! First stop is a visit to Notre Dame French National War cemetery. The group are in great spirits after the ferry ride from Dover across to Calais! 🇫🇷 @S3LHSYT @LarbertHigh
