Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally attended the reopening, expansion, upgrade, and ribbon-cutting of the Colorado State Forest Service's newly upgraded seedling tree nursery.

Commissioner Shadduck-McNally advocated for state funding and support for the renovation and expansion. The facility supplies seeds for native trees devastated by wildfire, climate change, and floods.

Larimer County Commissioners Kristin Stephens and Jody Shadduck-McNally and staff from Larimer County Health and Environment attended the Ozone Exchange, a three-day conference focused on ozone science and the challenges of attaining air quality standards in the West.

The conference is hosted by the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization https://t.co/uDL43MS8YG and Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments https://t.co/RnhApMbafc at The Ranch in Loveland.

Finally! The lanes are back where they belong!

The Colorado Department of Transportation and officials celebrated the traffic lanes on the North I-25 project being placed back in their appropriate configuration.

The project is a continuation of improvements that have been completed on I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins over the past six years. More here: https://t.co/DF1kvHIa94

#LarimerCounty Commissioner Kristin Stephens, CDOT Region 4 Transportation Commissioner Cecil Gutierrez, and Meade, Colorado Mayor Coleen Whitlow, posed for a couple of pics. Instead of a ribbon-cutting, they got creative, and each celebrated with lane-line painting on the northbound traffic lanes. #CDOT #MeadColorado #NorthI25project

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners recognized Larimer County Natural Resources for receiving not one --- but two Blue Grama Awards at the Open Space Annual Conference in Crested Butte, Colorado, from the Colorado Open Space Alliance for the Livermore Conservation Project and Poudre River Trail Project. https://t.co/CNxlaSRZhO .

“Tenacity, patience, and partnership are what made all this happen. It took a lot of collaboration. This is legacy work for multiple generations,” said Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally.

They promote land conservation benefits and program successes, and foster partnerships for open space programs, landowners, land trusts, conservation and land use organizations.

“Protecting both little spaces and big spaces does really mean a lot to not only our community but to our whole Northern Colorado region,” said Larimer County Commissioner Kristin Stephens.

Join Us at the Table

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners today proclaimed the month of October as Long-Term Care Residents’ Rights Month in Larimer County.

This year’s theme is “Join Us at the Table,” to highlight the importance of food and mealtimes in residents’ daily lives.

“I have a little experience in this right now, since my mom is in long-term care, and mealtime is really special. When I visit, she sometimes has an eye on the clock because she wants to go hang with her ‘crew,’ as I call them,” said Larimer County Commissioner Kristin Stephens. “That is one of her bigger parts of her day and gives her a lot of joy, so I know that mealtime is important in long-term care.”

There are 1.2 million individuals living in 14,700 nursing homes, with over 1 million also living in 32,000 assisted living/residential care facilities in the U.S.

“It’s the little things like sitting around the table with something they like to eat and other things that make their stay more like a home that are important,” said Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally.

Mealtimes and sharing food are an important part of how these residents interact, create and maintain friendships, and share their stories while enhancing their sense of community.

They know the code but do so much more …

Code compliance is more than just enforcing rules and codes. It’s also about forging relationships with our community.
The Board of Larimer County Commissioners proclaimed October as Code Compliance Month in Larimer County.

“I appreciate the fact that you resolve disputes between neighbors and know that the work you do isn’t easy. There is the enforcement part, but really, it’s about relationship-building with people to work through sometimes difficult issues. I know it’s deeply personal with people and their property,” said Larimer County Commissioner Kristin Stephens.

Larimer County Code Compliance staff are always out in our community meeting directly with property owners and residents and use their amazing skills to help folks navigate processes to bring property owners into compliance --- often voluntarily.

“One of my most memorable experiences was when I got to do a ride-along with one of our code compliance officers,” said Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas. “I saw how it’s all about relationships and building some trust and helping people understand we’re here to help folks.”

“It’s not just about enforcement --- it’s about how we can help people understand enforcement and the ‘why’ behind it. We want to preserve the health, safety, and welfare and eliminate hazards in our community,” said Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally.

Assessor to host community booth at Fort Collins Moves Open Streets

The Larimer County Assessor’s Office is hosting an informational booth at the upcoming Fort Collins Moves Open Streets on Sunday.

Larimer County Assessor Bob Overbeck and staff will be available for community members to ask questions and get information about the property 🏠 valuation process, public records, 📁 and public search tools.

"Open Streets provides a wonderful opportunity to step outside our traditional office setting and meet residents right in our community," said Larimer County Assessor Bob Overbeck. "We look forward to enjoying a fun, car-free Sunday along Laurel Street while answering questions about property valuations, available exemptions, and the resources our office provides."

Open Streets, https://t.co/vqln4rsNf1 now in its eleventh year, transforms Laurel Street into a temporary vehicle-free space featuring live music, 🎵 local food 🌭 trucks, and interactive community booths. It runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2026, is free, and open to the public.

It connects our community with ways to design streets that support other modes of transportation: walking, biking, rolling, and other forms of mobility.

Learn about exemption programs such as the Senior Property Tax 💰 Exemption, the Disabled Veteran Exemption, and other programs designed to help keep taxes as low as possible. Staff will be available to answer questions about property value matters and other valuation issues, too.

[Larimer County @LarimerCounty]

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners proclaimed October as Community Planning Month at their regular Administrative Matters meeting, coinciding with National Community Planning Month in our nation.

Community Planning Month recognizes the long-range planning process that sets the stage for how our community grows, helping ensure #LarimerCounty remains a great place to live. “You help us work through and wrestle with issues in our community so we can preserve our agricultural land, our rural spaces, open spaces, around water, data centers, and oil and gas, said Larimer County Commissioner Kristin Stephens. Stephens continued, “These are hard issues where we really rely on our planning staff to give us good answers and solutions. We live in a beautiful community because it was intentionally planned that way.”

Their work is put into action through codes, development, and what we want to protect, giving high value to the community we live in.
“I am grateful we have such an extraordinary staff who look long-term and create some sense of order to maintain and preserve what is special about Larimer County,” said Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas.

Larimer County has a long history of forward-thinking, proactive planning for the present and into the future. We all benefit from that in our county.

“I am grateful that we try to balance growth, code compliance, safety, and livability, while protecting our natural resources and our rural character,” said Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally.
