I think the Super Mario Galaxy movie was better than the last one IMHO but also it still rubbed me the wrong way, though I also expected it to. I think I rambled on and on a bit much, but hey, I watched a movie, and I gave my opinion on it. Better than the last, but not for me.

So I was curious and I bit the bullet. I watched the Super Mario Galaxy Movie... It was better than the first, but still not great IMHO (which boils down to how I personally prefer the characters be written). I'd rate it maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10? But maybe I'm being harsh on it.

So the verdict is: The Super Mario Galaxy movie had things I liked, I got a few laughs, Bowser was miles better in this one, they seemed to have some good messages in there, but it conflicts with bad messages and Bowser Junior's characterization and the whole killing thing.
