The CFL playoff changes and announcement -was/is an absolute failure.
Anyone trying to defend it or rationalize it. Isn’t doing so in good faith (or is clueless).
As far as the change itself:
I love the idea of trying to create revenue, but not at the expense of sacrificing the purity of competition. 8/9 teams making the playoffs is unacceptable in a professional sports league. And although seeding matters, it heavily devalues the regular season. The CFL is a league that struggles with its public perception in certain provinces, this is going to continue those perceptions and perhaps make them even worse now.
As for the announcement of it:
On draft day? You gotta be kidding me. A day that should be celebrated by the football community across the country is instead overshadowed by this announcement. Coupled with the fact that the website crashed, so no one really understood what was happening in the later rounds, created a devastating effect.
The CFL draft, if executed properly, could organically grow and eventually be a huge asset in helping build the leagues brand and changing its perception. Instead the polar opposite occurred.
Final thoughts:
Where is all the outrage from the players/coaches that were so outspoken about the incoming rule changes at? I guess a couple extra guaranteed bucks and they will gladly endorse American ideology.
‘Don’t build the best product, build the one that pays the fastest’ … doesn’t get much more American than that!
Here's a look at where picks matched up with the consensus spot (based on mock drafts from @TSN_Marsh, @3DownNation and @_CFFanatics).
How are you feeling about your team's first 3 round picks?

PLANET OF THE APES was released 58 years ago today. Regarded as one of the great science fiction films and a movie with one of the great plot twists, the behind the scenes story is like talking a walk through The Forbidden Zone…

As part of its long-term community commitment, the Grey Cup Festival will deliver a meaningful legacy through Calgary Stampeders Community Flag Football Fields. Supported by a $500,000 investment from the Calgary Stampeders Foundation, the project will see three new youth flag football fields constructed in Fonda Park, transforming under utilized green space into a year-round community sport asset. 🏈❤️

365 Days of Tunes - 365/365:
We end now with a true masterpiece released 70 years ago: ONE FROGGY EVENING (’55). In it, a frog emerges from a box found inside the cornerstone of a demolished building—he sings and dances, but only in the presence of the workman who discovered him.
Letting the kids interview the guys was all the fun that was needed! They always bring out the side that most people don't see and they kept it up all season courtesy of our folks from Mitchell's Foods 💚
Let's see how many we can compete for.
