George E. Johnson, a businessman and pioneer of Black hair care products, died on Monday. He was 99.
He founded Johnson Products in 1954 and went on to make a fortune on products like AfroSheen and UltraSheen.
His company was said to be the first Black-owned firm to be listed on a major American stock exchange. He also founded a bank and was the exclusive sponsor for the legendary TV show "Soul Train."

This is the very definition of corruption. President Trump’s sons, Eric and Don Jr., are tied to at least ten defense firms that have raked in $3.7 BILLION in federal contracts since his second term began. We cannot normalize this grift. America deserves better than the Pentagon serving as a Trump Family ATM.

Matt Damon reveals Steven Spielberg cut all dialogue and had no talking for the first 27 minutes of Saving Private Ryan
"How did it go the beggining, all that dialogue with them on the boat coming in and and Steven goes 'I cut all of that out."
“He goes, 'No talking for the first 27 minutes of this movie.'”
“And that was when I was like, oh my god, this movie is going to be fucking unbelievable.”

Here’s your friendly reminder from Kevin Walling that every Democrat in the House voted in support of National Voter ID included in the Freedom to Vote Act.
Not one Republican voted for it.
The #SAVEActIsPayToVote and is a way for Trump and Republicans to rig the midterms.
Greenland isn’t surrounded by Chinese and Russian ships. There hasn’t been $19.2 trillion invested in the US under Trump. Trump hasn’t settled eight wars. Biden’s military aid to Ukraine wasn’t worth hundreds of billions of dollars. The 2020 election wasn’t rigged.

Trump said the quiet part into a live microphone: he froze $16 billion for the Hudson tunnel to punish Democrats. "It's up to me," he bragged.
It wasn't.
A federal judge just unfroze it—for good—using the regime's own court filing against it. They admitted, in writing, the freeze was illegal. 1,000 jobs are back.
The regime tried to hold a tunnel hostage. A judge cut it loose:

PASTOR LORAN LIVINGSTON (@CentralChurchNC): “There has never been a Christian nation, and never will be. You don’t live in one now. A Christian nation wouldn’t have killed and displaced 20 million Native Americans, or thought owning slaves was pleasing to God.”
Justin J. Pearson: “If the Republican Party is gonna be the party licking the boot of the billionaires who are taking our land, polluting our water, and taking our jobs, then let us be the party of the working class in rural, suburban, and urban America alike. If the Republican Party is gonna be the party of AI taking away our jobs, the party of corporate handouts and blank checks for foreign wars, let us be the party to deliver an increase to the minimum wage. Let us be the party to deliver universal healthcare”
20 years ago today, I launched aboard Discovery on STS-121, the only shuttle mission ever to launch on July 4th. Pretty good way to spend Independence Day. Proud of everyone who made that mission happen and still proud of what this country can do when we invest in exploration.
The largest part of the Supreme Court's 194-page decision on birthright citizenship is Justice Clarence Thomas's dissent—a massive alternate history of citizenship, the Civil War, and Reconstruction.
To Thomas, the 14th Amendment applied only to the freed people after the Civil War because they were domiciled in the US and owed no allegiance to a foreign power—interpreting the rule as limited to one period and one population.
In a concurrence that spotlights the role Black people played in shaping the 14th Amendment, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson takes on Justice Thomas. “The Reconstruction Amendments were an anticaste, antisubordination reset for the Nation,” she wrote, “not a mere spot treatment for the dark stain of slavery.”
"The teacher who scolds a student for bullying a classmate hopes the student learns the broader lesson of treating everyone with kindness," Jackson writes. "Not just that one kid."
