So they ask substance abusers if they are substance abusers? That’s nutty. Self-reporting is not really a thing amongst addicts. Unless we are gonna get something for it. There is an idea that scenarios like this could actually help someone who is struggling with their own addictions not feel so shameful, so isolated, so “broken”, knowing that a word-class athlete/ rich guy suffers the same way. It actually might spur some people to get help. Addiction is the only disease that tells you you don’t have it. It’s gonna be different this time. I will only have one. It will be different this time. If you want to get better, there are millions of people who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless condition of body and mind.
