One of my greatest mistake in Life as a Farmer is being a FARMER.
I shouldn’t have invested in a sector that is dependent on Government policies and bottlenecks.
In my line of business, there’s no escaping Government inefficiencies.
Nigerian Government will do everything in agriculture except solving problems.
For more than 20 years farmers have been saying that we suffer seasonal Glut because we simply cannot individually afford Machinery for Egg Pasteurization.
Government will listen to our complaints, lie that they are coming up with a NEGPRO scheme and go ahead to simply do the opposite of what was agreed.
With high Electricity and Gas prices, investors are guaranteed not make their money back as Egg powder produced in Nigeria will fail to compete with Global market.
Companies will rather import than buy made in Nigeria raw materials.
State Governors are worse, they simply have no clue of what to do outside of using fertilizer as a political tool.
They have refused to build or sustain any critical infrastructure (Dams, Health and safety of animals, meaningful collaborations or Training)
The CBN under Emefiele refused to allow the Bank of Agriculture to do its job.
With the growing insecurity and policy missteps farmers in Nigeria have little to no incentive to continue to run or grow their businesses.
Don’t go into Agriculture, it’s simply not worth it.
@BobSam462376@Its_Yhettyqueen Also, they're not making money from the chicken alone. Blood, feathers, neck, legs, gizzard, head, etc are sold separately. Nothing is wasted in Agric.
@BobSam462376@Its_Yhettyqueen They were not affected by disease or anything. That's their business model. Once they attain 1.7-2kg, cropping starts immediately. Some may not even stay up to 5 weeks on farm. 6 wks is max duration. The entire stocks are gone and getting set for another cycle. Dem full Ibadan.
I had a friend.
Sharp guy.
Hustling, building, always had something in the works. But his problem was simple... he loved to talk before he did things or before the deals were done.
He told his boys about the land he was about to buy before he paid the deposit. Two weeks later, someone close to him quietly moved on that same plot. He found out after the papers were signed.
He told people about a contract he was negotiating. Someone in that same circle knew the other party. The numbers got back to them. He lost his leverage and had to accept less than he deserved.
He told a mutual friend his relationship was on shaky at the moment... That same friend slid into his woman's DMs with "I'm here if you need to talk." She didn't leave him for the guy... but something shifted.
Something that never fully came back.
None of these people were his enemies. That's the part that should frighten you. They were people who ate at his table, laughed at his jokes, called him brother.
Information is power... and when you hand it to people freely, you are giving them power over your life that they never earned.
A man who talks too much hands people the blueprint to his downfall... your dreams are not content.
Your struggles are not gist.
Your next move is not a preview.
Guard your life like it depends on it... because it does.
Wahala dey on this housing issue especially in Abuja and I think we need to address it.
Earlier this year, a colleague of mine who was paying 700k per annum for a self-contained apartment at Gwarinpa was told that her rent had been increased to 1.3 million naira. She had no choice but to leave the apartment and go back to her parents' house (She's lucky her parents reside here)
Again today, on my way home, I saw a guy, whom I had known married two years ago, moving his things back to his parents' house, together with his wife and a kid.
Asking around, I was told his apartment (a one-room apartment) in Kubwa (F01) was increased from 2 million naira to 3.5 million naira.
How did we get here?
These house rents are the money our parents used to buy land and build to a certain level.
Now, we used this same money just to rent an apartment.
There is no increment in salary, and sales are not as they used to be.
Is Tinubu trying to kill us or what?
Why are the housing agents increasing house rents without prior notice?
This is worrisome.
*My house rent expires in July and I've been hearing news that our landlord wants to increase the rent again. The same rent that was increased last year*
I think one thing that made me become a care free person is that I watched all my fears come to pass one by one.
Went to the university late in life when most of my mates have finished, even though I didn’t see myself going to the university at that age.
Lost my mom to just a 3 days illness.
Lost an abroad scholarship I applied for because they said I wasn’t poor enough when I declared my statement of account.
Never thought or planned to be single by age 26 but here I am hitting mid 30s and living my life the best possible way I can.
Finished school and the nepo job I was looking forward to passed me by because it turned out my course wasn’t the required one. The second nepo job passed me by too because Hope Uzodinma became a governor. Picked myself up and started my brand.
Lost my dad to a less than 2 weeks illness.
Lost relationships, and friendships I didn’t think I’d lose.
Got diagnosed with a condition that leaves me in both bearable and unbearable pains every month of my life.
Right now, my whole world could be crashing, and I’ll just want to sleep or eat. Nothing and nobody is more important to me than the air I breathe daily.
Some of us have been like you but life has forced us to see that nothing is in our control no matter how much we worry. If it happens it happens, if you complain, life can still decide to add more shege and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.
Life can be brutal, learn to let things be.
