Haha. I want my driving licence and my firearms certificate. It was made clear I'd have to quit to keep them. Plus, war is coming in one form or another, and I need a habit like I need a 7.62 to the head. All sorts of reasons. Plus, when people tell me I can't do something, I get pissed off enough to do it.
I like the glamping analogy! Exhaustion also sums up my attitude to the never-ending, high-pitched whining. Castro's bastard describing the Canadian truckers is the perfect example: "...far right, racist, frequently misogynistic and homophobic..."
WhyTF is homophobia thrown in there? With respect to the gay men who suffered in the past during their quest to be left alone, but this is ridiculous. Misogyny is also used whenever one criticises a woman. Logically, then, in view of what I say about men, I must be a terrible misandrist.
@samziz@BlackstarOlivia@Qveen_Potato Apparently only 2% of long-term term opiates users manage to give it up, the rest dying or relapsing. It's a figure used in the "recovery" industry. I just used it as motivation. To feed my stubborness, as it were. As I then had to deal with the increase in pain.
@samziz@BlackstarOlivia@Qveen_Potato I'm beginning to feel I should.
Your definition, the "unfashionable wretched", makes the contempt I feel for those competing in the victimhood Olympics swell all the more. I may have to go out and oppress some women, or unleash my xenophobia.
I think it's an excellent idea. Rather gripping. From a practical point of view, nearer the wrist. And use a proper font.
It may seem a bit odd, me recommending you also tattoo the name of member of your family in penance, but I don't think either of us worry about being seen as odd. I am thinking of your aunt, who was abandoned by the "brave" husband who decided he was gay. It still upsets me.
Here is the tattoo I used to motivate myself to give up morphine after 20 years.
@samziz@BlackstarOlivia@Qveen_Potato Hey, I can beat that. I urinated besides Suggs on Hastings Pier. We growled at each other in the accepted manly fashion, made sure we didn't shake it too much, and nodded curtly on the way out.
@flapprdotnet You are doing God's work. Where before there was a dystopian hellscape of twerking grotesques, you have brought back the appreciation of the feminine superstructure.
More power to you.
40 years ago, in Italy, I worked in the medicine field. For a company that developed drugs. I was responsible for FDA compliance, to allow us to sell into the American market.
The problem then, as I belive it to be now, is the sheer amount of cash sloshing around the system. Corruption from its softest form to briefcases of notes. Always the conference in Bali or Acapulco.
Good luck trying to tame that beast.
You are being very harsh on yourself. There is nothing quite as suffocating as a middle-class childhood and you cannot be held responsible for the time it takes you to escape it. The rage builds within me when I consider the Islington Care Homes, as it does every time I encounter the suffering of an Ollie.
I lived amongst the homeless in Amsterdam. I put it that way, rather than saying I was homeless, because in theory it had just to make a phone call for it to end. The fact that I would die on the streets rather than make the call is irrelevant.
You cannot blame yourself for taking a while to understand foundational annihilation. And I understand what you call luxury trauma.
The most shocking thing for me, when I began to understand this other world, was the amount of children who grow up without love.
When did you begin to understand?

Let's hope the fucker stays there.
