De Vlaamse minister van begroting Ben Weyts gaf 75.000 euro subsidies voor een wandelapp. Aan een VZW uit zijn thuisgemeente. De app heeft nooit gewerkt. Een jaar later was ze verdwenen.

"Het is maar 75.000 euro, weer een kleintje?" Klopt, maar dit is tekenend voor de hele Vlaamse uitgavencultuur. Eentje van ons-kent-ons. Iedereen die zeer dichtbij de overheid staat, krijgt heel veel subsidies. Ook voor de zeer grote bedragen. Wie niet dat "geluk" heeft, betaalt ze

Universiteit Gent bracht daar voor het eerst een studie over uit. Daaruit bleek dat plaatsen waar ministers wonen, disproportioneel veel subsidies krijgen. Reactie van minister @BenWeyts: "Dat is normaal. Je zou een slechte minister zijn voor regio als je het niet doet". Sjah.

Speaking at a vigil after the Islamist terror attack against the Berlin Gay Pride Parade, one of the activists said she had hoped it would turn out that attacker was a White Christian man and not a foreigner.

She then goes to explain that Intersectionality is about minority groups standing up for each other.

Intersectionality originates in critical theory and Black feminist scholarship.

Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term in 1989 to describe her claim that overlapping social categories (race, sex, class) can produce distinct forms of disadvantage that single-axis analyses miss.

She argued that Black women can face discrimination that neither purely racial nor purely gendered frameworks can fully captured.

It has since expanded in academia, activism and institutions into a broader lens emphasizing interlocking systems of power, privilege, and oppression.

Intersectionality treats social outcomes primarily through hierarchies of systemic oppression rather than individual agency, culture, behavior, cognitive distributions or market processes.

This aligns with radical egalitarian traditions that prioritize equality of outcome across identity groups and view liberal institutions, markets and merit as mechanisms that reproduce hierarchy.

In practice, intersectional analysis often underpins demands for race and sex-conscious policies, equity (as distinct from equality of opportunity), speech codes, DEI mandates and critiques of “Whiteness,” “patriarchy,” or “heteronormativity” as structural rather than individual.

It has been deeply adopted in humanities and social-science faculties, NGOs, and progressive political coalitions over the past decades.

From Crenshaw’s legal scholarship it migrated into critical race theory, queer theory and fourth-wave feminism, then into campus activism, corporate HR and electoral left platforms.

-> €23.500/jaar van de stad Gent
-> €7.500/jaar van de Gentse Jeugddienst

@mrtsoft @KVoorspools Veel fietsers hebben ook nog nooit van voorrang van rechts gehoord. Zij denken dat ze gewoon overal voorrang hebben (ook al omdat automobilisten te pas en te onpas voorrang verlenen aan fietsers, zelfs als ze van links komen).

Ik heb alle verslagen van die commissie doorgenomen en hoorzittingen beluisterd: er zijn wel degelijk menselijke fouten gemaakt.

Veelzeggend dat DS een redactionele noot meent te moeten plaatsen bij de uitspraak van die vrouw.

Toont de angst om een officieel narratief in vraag te stellen. Zeker als het om een klimaatramp gaat.

Het Agentschap binnenlands bestuur heeft een eigen podcast over "jezelf zijn". Ik vroeg vandaag naar de kostprijs. Het was nog eens tijd om van mijn stoel te vallen: 800.000 euro.

Voor een podcast met amper bereik. Waarvan er honderd anderen bestaan. Waaronder velen van de VRT, dus ook met overheidsgeld.

800.000 euro voor een podcast van een agentschap. Hoe krijg je dat zelfs uitgegeven? Staan daar mensen voor full-time op de loonlijst? Waanzin.
