I keep seeing “black on black crime” tweets. If we need to revisit the ignorance that is “black on black crime,” we are in a terrible place. The phrase is rooted in anti-Black racism as crime of any kind isn’t unique to Black people. Let that phrase go.
I’m not an experimentalist, but I want to head that direction. I need a brainstorming session with someone that does experiments, especially causal chain stuff.
All my life I’ve had this experimental idea in my head…
It’s an example of why many distrust the chain of command. Whereas the “big boss” wasn’t being malicious, they did need to have the wherewithal to 1) remember their own instructions and 2) consider potential outcomes of their actions. That situation is part of the reason I left.
In my previous career, my supervisor was using resources in a way that was undermining our unit goals - major issue. I tried to talk to them about and was block. I went to their boss, and they told me to bcc them on the email chain about the issue. I did that.
Their boss then takes them the email in print and asks why I copied them - they’d forgotten our conversation in less than 48 hours. I then had to deal with my supervisor being upset with me until they left our unit. That situation stuck with me for the last decade.
@DIRECTV@DIRECTVhelp it’s football season, and we lack access to several sports broadcasts. This was an issue last year, and there still hasn’t been a fix? I shouldn’t have to pay extra to access sports on other platforms when I’m paying for full service cable.
Revise and resubmits are so disrespectful. How dare you give my research a fair chance at being published. Don’t you know I’m too busy to focus on the things that actually help me keep my job?
Speaking of reviewing, I submitted a review on time for once, and I ended up being the only reviewer.
The AE referred to me as an expert in their letter to the authors. Fam, I might have blushed. Can brown-skin Black people blush? I felt like ya boy was blushing.
Reviewer 3, three dozen+ comments, and about half are redundant and/or contrary to the journal’s manuscript guidelines? Really?
I’m not naming the journal, but it’s a high quality venue that typically doesn’t do this. I can see why the AE responded how they did.
Excited to announce that @Sakiera_Hudson@gd_higginbotham & I received @NSF funding to launch the Black Social & Personality Psychology Network! The mission is to provide community & resources for Black social & personality psychologists. DM/email us if you're on the job market!
@docdking11 Failing is such a harsh term. I wasn’t there, but I’m guessing it was more of a realistic job preview. Because the way that first round review can go, not being able to move forward on the first try is just part of the job.
@docdking11 I did two swimming classes last summer, one was with my kids. In addition to overcoming my discomfort, I wanted to improve our experiences as a family. I plan to continue lessons in July. My kids are like fish, but it’s taking me a little longer.
Ted Cruz on CNN was just terrible to watch. He complained about the media playing games, and then he started playing games to make a point that he knows he can’t support. Just admit you’re going to cry fraud if Biden wins. That’s the GOP play now.
