Author writing the horrific, fantastical, and weird. Seeking rep!
MA student in DigiCom & Culture when not distracted by literature, games, weights, and cars.
Currently querying my urban dark fantasy with escalating horror elements🤞
It is heavily inspired by @jeffvandermeer, Lovecraft, and the Silent Hill series
I was going to take a break from writing while querying the current WIP and focus on my thesis, but what can only be described as writer's FOMO is creeping in.
A bit of outlining can't hurt...

@AssassinPrieste Roleplaying my characters was not something I expected I'd be doing when I started my WIP - but nobody knows them better than me.
I also deleted and rewrote the first 5-6 chapters after finishing my first draft to make sure my characters were consistent with who they evolved into
@acolytearchive Genre probably matters, but if knowing the twist invalidates the rest of the story, I'm not sure I think it was a great story to begin with
After looking into KDP, querying no longer feels like a binary success/failure situation. I'm still giving the trad route an honest shot, but knowing that my story will make it from my SSD to my shelf one way or the other eases the anxiety
@JayLongWrites A little trick that worked for me is to put a timer at, say, 30 minutes and commit to nothing but the task until the timer hits 0. You can get more done in those 30 focused minutes than in hours filled with distractions. And it gets a momentum going.
