Each year, tens of thousands of cyclists use the Charles River Bike Path. The State of Massachusetts needs to do a far better job of managing disruptions to this key artery for both commuters and recreational users during construction. @MassGovernor@MassGov@CambMA
A section of the Memorial Drive bike lane was shut down last week. This is one of the most popular and heavily used bike routes in the Greater Boston area, connecting Harvard University, MIT, and downtown Boston along the Charles River in Cambridge.
During construction, intended to make biking safer, bicyclists and pedestrians are asked to detour across the busy 4-lane Memorial Drive twice, creating hazardous conditions.
Few people actually use this detour as it is impractical and dangerous, preferring instead to walk or bike in the busy Memorial Drive car lane adjacent to the construction. Today I witnessed dozens of people forced to bike in traffic, including a mother with a young child.
Design and construction are managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. If bike lane construction continues towards Harvard, @MassDCR must find ways to maintain the flow of bicycles and pedestrians along the path … just as they would with cars

Finally, a huge thank you to Margaret Church who couldn't be here this year, but who we hope to have join us at the Summit next year in Biobío. We are so proud to celebrate 10 years of collaboration with a growing network of 10 labs!
After another amazing City Science Summit, I want to thank @ArroyoVanesa and her amazing team in Andorra for hosting us & the members of the City Science network CSL Biobío, @citysciencelab Hamburg, Taipei, @MITCities, Shanghai, Israel, Gipuzkoa, Andorra, Guadalajara & Toronto.
Many thanks to our panelists Josep Maria Missé, Gilbert Saboya, Albert Moles & Luis Alonso. Thank you to Minister Conxita Marsol Riart and Secretary Marc Saura Benazet from the government of Andorra.
Last night, I had the opportunity to speak at ChileMass’s Innovation Day alongside Luis Alonso Pastor and Martín Andrade. @MITCities @mitcityscience https://t.co/K14NK5szBo
PhD candidate Alex Berke released this novel open dataset that contains Amazon purchase histories, spanning 2018 to 2022. Learn more in the CSCW medium article: https://t.co/4eyET83HbE
We crowdsourced purchase histories from thousands of https://t.co/2El0fWINYo users to publish a first-of-its-kind open dataset.
We embedded an experiment in the data collection process - this #CSCW2024 paper and blogpost summarize the experiment results: https://t.co/emtwRJCecG
