@thomasmahler I'm at work so I haven't tried it, personally I'm expecting a unique experience. Super immersive world, interactive & combat systems that aren't the usual every day, an action adventure probably with not the best story, but everything surrounding it being top notch/bespoke.
@zackmac63102618@GamesRadar To finish the thought, you're delusional if you think this has no downside. Look at history, the industry has proven to take the low road with tech like this. To the point that optimization isn't standard, but a virtue. We literally are impressed by a game *functioning*.
@zackmac63102618@GamesRadar Like I said, classic randy pitchford BL4 type situations. Indies will reign supreme, with a few standouts in the triple A space maintaining their quality and consistency, nothing ever happens, yadda yadda.
@zackmac63102618@GamesRadar I don't want it to exist, because I know once it does just like every other thing that came into gaming that suits can use as an excuse to save or gain a single cent they'll take it.
Optimization? Bah, who cares, DLSS5 will carry. Not mindless, these uncanny photos look funky.
@docmartimcfly@sham_exe@VesDegree Depends on the game, RE9 is a good example of focused and curated. Crimson desert seemingly is a good example of a content fat game.
But Pokemon to me should be a thoughtful experience. Clever world, fun characters, cool story, weave that into the battles. That's what matters.
@docmartimcfly@sham_exe@VesDegree That's pretty much it yeah, no cohesiveness in the vision of the game leads to overwhelming numbness. Those game mechanics aren't cool just because it's a game mechanic, it's cool because it fits in with the lore of the land and the story of that generation.
@Durrtydoesit At the very least you need characters and a world you care about, if Kliff is a deadpan husk person I'm not gonna feel incredibly in sync with the over arching progression of the game, which is gonna hurt the experience. TotK story sucks but I care about Link and Zelda from BotW.
@Durrtydoesit Tears yeah it kinda sucks but elden ring is like a sleuth lore game it's really good when you get into it.
Tbh it'd be significantly blander if it was nothing but a handful of cutscenes & dialogue with no lore tabs on weapons and items and no effort on environmental storytelling
@zackmac63102618@GamesRadar Cool, cool. Looks like crap. If the game updated to give me the option of using it I'd keep the setting welded to off.
Unfortunately the "leap" will be used more like a "crutch" and it's gonna suck.
@FfMeryll@TheNCSmaster And even from a gamer perspective ioncare if the fanbase is a bunch of screeching goblins, they have 0 impact on me and my day to day life and a good impact on the franchise that I love to play and want to see continue. So for me it's a net benefit to have an "annoying" fandom.
@FfMeryll@TheNCSmaster Purely from a business perspective, I'd much rather have a loud, annoying, can't stop talking rabid fanbase that convinces others through word of mouth alone to purchase over a bunch of lurkers, albeit dedicated, that don't do anything for sales beyond their own initial purchase
@EndlessGl I'm just not down for an extraction shooter, or another live service, just over that whole bit. Hope it succeeds, for Bungie's sake. They've got talent, even if they're a mess. Would like to see them make something else someday.
